  1. It will clean up on the Home Video front and becomes some kind of a cult classic that keeps on selling for years & years. Warner should release the Mad Max Quadrilogy Mega Collection or something. This will put in additional success in the Home Video market.
  2. It could do PROMETHEUS number, another Charlize Theron-starring movie. But the violence may turn off some folks so I will not be surprised if it did $300M + WW
  3. I was expecting $30M+ for MMFR so $40M+ is more than good. PP2 however is just too unreal. The fans of this movie just kinda exploded during home video release of the 1st one?
  4. Remember Magic Mike? 2.89X, something like that. The movie will still end up as a gigantic hit for Universal which already has FF7 & Grey as their big earners. With Minions & JW waiting to rampage & Ted 2 about to explode, (& Everest, The Visit, J&Holograms, Krampus could all collectively be more than decent), this could be a very nice year for Universal, and erase the stench that is the Seventh Son & Blackhat.
  5. FF needs a mad genius like Miller. FF6 & FF7 look like a pair of overdressed, clunky James Bond wannabe.
  6. Compared to PP2, Max will be less front loaded. PP2 is the one with the screaming teen fanbase & the last Mx movie starred Tina Turner in 1985 (!!!). MMFR is full of hard core S&M imagery, not really a clean-cut Disney product like Ultron. I think this movie will surprise GA and pull in more unsuspecting & curious crowds in the 2nd weekend. I saw it and walked out filled with the urge to go back for 2nd viewing. The last time I had this feeling was when I first saw Empire Strikes Back, Matrix, Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, LOTR1/2/3, Gravity & the Indiana Jones movies.
  7. FF7 seems like an inflated Kurt Russell action movie from the 80s rather than a FF movie. The FF series has mutated to a point it is almost unrecognizable. It has one small drag race scene but in spirit, it is much closer to a standard urban action movie starring Kurt or Jason Statham. I am mega-surprised it actually makes Avengers-level business
  8. TF4 did $320M. FF7 is closing in on $400M. I think I am sure Ultron will do at least $350M
  9. I wonder what Marvel will be doing after the Infinity War movies are out. They still have a huge library of minor superheroes but that won't bring the super dough. They could take back XMEN franchise from Fox and do that Fall of Mutants storyline. And I always hope for a stand-alone Hulk movie or trilogy that is more about smashing city properties.
  10. Nepal earthquake is also fresh in the minds of the audience. They don't want to see more death & destruction as a form of entertainment. The final scene where the whole city is wrecked to pieces is just too disturbing in light of Nepal.
  11. I remember when Spider-Man scored $70M+ 2nd weekend in 2002. That was like a shockingly gargantuan achievement. I think a $70M 2nd weekend is still an impressive feat.
  12. A robot is not as dramatic a threat as Loki as brilliantly played by Hiddleston. AoU has that darker passages that got the GA spooked & uncomfortable. They don;t like to see their heroes in weakened state, whereas TA is more like a "F*** yea, superheroes kick ass" type of movie. Plus, there is the novelty factor wearing off quickly further compounded by the incessant bombardment of comic book movies & TV shows (Arrow, Flash, SHIELD etc). The studios should look at this AoU number and start worrying about "peak superhero", just like Wall Street analysts worrying about peak oil.
  13. Yea but those folks who paid $100 to watch the Mayweather-Pac fight is probably teasing their younger brothers for being comic book geeks. What I'm saying probably not an overlap demographics and that's a rather dispiriting trend. I thought Ultron has more interesting story than the 1st Avengers, although TA1 has better pacing and action. Less play-do CGI next time, Marvel, more scenes like the Thor's hammer contest.
  14. I feel that AoU has a great opportunity to be a better AVENGERS movie (the team showing their human side, fears etc, Hulkbuster fight is pure SH awesomeness, more human drama, James Spader voice ) than the first one but alas they slap a completely ho-hum 3rd act full of your typical concrete destruction from the last 15 years of action cinema.
  15. FF7 has shown us that April is the new May. Will BvS show us that March is the new April? Jeez, the speed at which this thing is going....
