Sure, why not? Movie stars are totally dead.
Come on dude you know what I meant. He's done as an A list solo star, I'm not sure even he's unhappy about it but it's been a long time since he carried a blockbuster (well you could say that about all of his recent work).

News media is basically ignoring RO in comparison to TFA... It's not surprising but it's no question that it's noticeable. Awareness seems way down on social media as well.

Is Will Smith done officially now? SS success really can't be attributed to him so it's still been years since he ruled the BO.

Why JW did nearly 190 after previews? Now we don't know how the public will go the wom is begin to kick in (or not) via the social network the weather could have affect it the night... Personaly i will not attend a movie even SW if it's raining or cold as fuck i will wait the week end.
So we ll see.
JW was a summer release not to mention has nowhere near the rush out factor. Not even really comparable.

BOT: "movie did not perform on par with my uber high and crazy fun expectations? FLOP!"
This is straight bait, relax man. Expectations can't be discounted just because they seem optimistic.

I don't necessarily doubt you, but why are you making that conclusion. I am curious.
It's not doing $151m after previews, that's virtually impossible.

Damn, I thought it would do well over 30. But I am still banking on plus 180 or higher. Everyone wants to see this. I think it was just not a huge must see Thursday night film. JW only did 18.5 million on previews. It did 11x that for OW. RO only needs to do 6x to get to 180. I think that feels very likely. I think it goes a lot higher than that.
$180m is dead sorry. I'd put money on it now.

With a weekend IM from the preview of 4.5, only slightly less than TFA, this does 130.5 OW. That means baumer's club would be looking real good, FWIW. And honestly, I think its multiplier from preview might be even worse. I'd love for someone to explain to me how an adult-oriented spinoff for the fans will be more backloaded than the broadly appealing TFA. I just don't get it.
I don't see it going that low but it's possible.
-
Mad I adjusted up my OW from $148m to $160m. Still possible but way more unlikely as of the preview #.
-
$29m is still more than CW & BVS, not bad at all. $180m+/$600m+ predicts are likely dead at this point.
-
I refuse to buy the $40m+ figure, seems highly unlikely.

Passengers will be a dud (likely make near 100 million due to Star Power)
AC is not trending at all.
Sing and La La land are only other films and they appeal to a different demos.
Not to mention the economy is strong and people will want something to do after how draining this year has been. It's a no brainer to hold well over the holidays regardless of what it opens to.

Its rather simple if Civil War opened this weekend, it would have opened lower but got better legs, because its the holidays.
Agreed and maybe it would've even grossed more due to less competition into the new year.

and you forget the simple fact its the holidays.
Everyone has had this discussion with him over it. Not much productive comes from it.

I do not see why people think a sub 3.00 multiplier can happen...
Never ever happened, films like Tron and Hobbit 3 had over that multiplier.
Tron deserved getting over a 3, it was one of the better releases that used 3D even if a lot of it was crap. Not to mention the soundtrack is amazing.

Lol this year has had very few well liked blockbuster films compared to 2015 where it seemed films like SW7, JW and Fast 7 powered away with nostalgia overshadowing any real shortcomings they had.
You could easily argue there isn't a "great" film out of the lot. A lot of ok/good films.

Alright guys I'll break the news to you... TFA wasn't as good as you thought
. There... now RO should be better.

Well, I didn't particularly care for this. The first act was a mess, the 2nd and 3rd are better but feel like things happening without narrative thrust. Low energy

Wow these reactions are pretty muted. Not what I expected on here.

I'll say more when I get home in about 10 minutes, but Gareth/Tony/Chris cannot write characters for shit.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThis is a serious problem if fans don't love the characters. Was definitely one of the biggest ?s coming in.
