Which one is it? Tired of having to manually switch it off for each post.

I wonder if we see FB hurt a little more due to Moana. Clearly will be the #1 family choice. Pretty great preview #.
-
Pretty good holds since the preview number, looks like it can be a bit more leggy than traditional Potter films.

WB always does this with their tentpoles.
It's almost 6pm EST, it's a joke.

This is a great way to describe it. Even a movie like Iron Man (the first one) feels like it wouldn't happen much today.
Same summer with TDK (which I would easily argue is the best overall blockbuster past ten years).

This feels weird, no one's yelling at each other? I guess if we coat our differing opinions in our shared fear of impending death it's all good
I keep waking up wondering if it's a joke we're in this situation and then I look at my phone.

The only blockbuster to receive a solid A from me in this decade is Inception
That's funny dude that's exactly what I was thinking. We had a TON of hype for that one and I remember still absolutely loving it.

Deadpool was a lot of fun. It was generic in a lot of ways just a bit dirtier due to the R rating but it worked. If it was a PG13 movie I doubt a lot of us would've enjoyed it as much as we did.

There are a shit ton of fantastic movies to see these days and more to come very soon, not sure what some of you are missing, probably not aware of those movies.
This discussion is more on big budget blockbusters, clearly there are a lot of good films each year.

It's easy to say I liked something I wanted to like, failure in expectations is more uncomfortable. I think it makes you slightly more cynical each time.

I can honestly say as you get older you become more skeptical. At least that's what I'm experiencing when I see a film esp blockbusters. There's so much hype on everything especially when you are a fan and use forums like these. I can't remember the last time my feeling was "holy shit that blew me away." It's sad that's my experience right now but my appreciation for truly great films of the past increases.

You guys know you don't have to go see every blockbuster that comes out, right?
What would we have to complain about then? Can't just throw mud without solid evidence

Soft opening for Star Wars next year?
Honestly, it won't be opening for years yet.
It'll open in Florida at the same time and they've barely started construction. Disney take years on these things.
I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
Interestingly it was confirmed today that Star Tours will get an Episode 8 add-on sequence next year, like Force Awakens did.
Thats pretty cool on Star Tours. Nice little teaser to keep the fans happy while they wait.

This isn't opening anywhere close to Episode 8. It'll be after Episode 9 most likely.
You maybe right but a lot of the attractions closed during the construction are still scheduled to come back by end of next summer so we'll see. Very possible we see some sort of soft opening but who knows?

As our generation grows up and have kids they(we) are buying new books to try to get our kids into it.
And yes, it's slowly but surely becoming a classic.
It's already a classic. It's definitely not a literary masterpiece but I mean the impact it's had on reading in the Internet age (not even just for children) probably even exceeds books like the Bible.

I think there might be some reasoning behind this.
Maybe they want to spread out the crowds as much as possible instead of having all the best stuff on only one end.
It's Disneyland dude, I maybe biased but it's almost all "the best stuff."

But a SW theme park seems like a no brainer.
I can't think of a more massive and loyal fanbase.
It does but the layout of Disneyland is about to get a bit confusing (You now have Tomorrowland/Star Tours/Space Mountain & SW Land at opposite ends of the park). There seems to be a bit of a rush to get this done before episode 8.

Is Wizarding World one of the most popular theme parks?
I've never been but I hear it's fantastic. Both the California & Florida versions.

I didn't know that. And yes, it mattered. I just hope that the lack of rush in the OW means better than usual legs.
Yeah it's been a massive success. Once Iger found out they were opening at Universal I believe he moved on the plan to build SW Land at Disneyland.

That is true, but this will still be profitable. And much much more important, it is great advertising for the merchandise and theme parks which is where the real money comes from. Just think that between 2012 and 2016 the Wizarding World brand gained more than 4b in value, reaching an unbelievable 25b (second only to SW). That 4b is as much as brands as LOTR/Twilight are worth overall and without any movie released.
And even without the insane merchandise revenues, let's be honest, the sequels could make 100m DOM, but they would still do at least 550-600m WW. Which studio wouldn't want such a franchise?
HP brand is strong man, I will never disagree with that. FB in fairness doesn't have HP though even though it's set in the same universe. Clearly mattered in its opening.
side note: Disney is directly creating SW Land because of Wizarding World so that gives you an idea of how valuable it is.

$85m for 5 days would be very good. Disney animation saving Iger from the constant ESPN cord cutting headache.
