  1. Pink Floyd The Wall comes to mind... Same strange effect since at least yesterday, tried different brothers browsers and locations, I am 'all alone' here too No matter if in a thread or the 'home' start view, where usually all members and guest as a sum were to see, all alone I mean with home this https://forums.boxofficetheory.com/
  2. I just checked the nouveau I think is the least a pupils is expected to reach (the shortest time in school = 9th grade of a least level school, the least difficult degree): Fountas & Pinnell / Common Core 'U' or higher at the end of a least level school ending as a 9th grader As a comparison to a native speaking grade: what I think is matching to be able to read books and other material for a fifth grader at the end of the year in the US, not sure about the British grades, maybe around the same. CEFR B1 nouveau I think matches now for said 9th grader example, the nouveau is increasing in the middle-long run as they start now years earlier than in the past to learn the first foreign language = at my time with luck in the 7th grade in a specialised for a theme school (me technical), in 5th grade in an academic route allowing/preparing school. Later they started in 5th grade for the lesser schools, since a few (???) years they start now in either the 2nd grade or latest the 3rd grade (grade 1-4 is ~ basic school for 'all', the split up starts mostly in 5th, 7th, and for the 'lesser levels' after the 9th grade again they can change to a higher level) A good in languages 12th grader should reach C1, but a 12th grader always has a 2nd foreign language to learn as well, the additional one starting in the 6th grade nowadays, in the past it was 2 years later I think) Reading/watching a movie... is often a step higher level possible, than in 'using' it I think. E.g. even the weakest 9th grader can follow a movie like e.g. Ready Player One around the mid of the school year, but would not be considered more than B1 in any case at the end of the school year (if at all as a weak one), hence why I prefer the Common Core or the British book band (~ enhanced version) system, how to interpret the CEFR description seems to differ in a too big way. Basic problem for that seems, that an adult foreign language learner brings a higher understanding of complex situations and grammar of his/her own language, also specialised knowledge for certainn professions and governmental details.... and as CEFR is a lot used for those kind of courses: refresh and increase for e.g. someone who wants a certificate for profession or foreign academic studying reasons, how to interpret/apply that to a 9th grader.... Plus a lot gets forgotten fast by a former pupils, if not used after school for a time. I am probably not a good example of an average older German, as I learned a lot of English afterwards, but the younger Germans here, I think their nouveau is a good indicator for the degree foreign language gets actually taught here.

  4. Here was a lot of protest vs nuclear energy The took nuclear out of the school ~ 'book' (what every grade has to learn, the themes... is in a big book per grade, counting for all schools of the same types per state) at the end of the '70, what lead to less the general population and especially the youth (who then tended to go way more on the streets to protest in a more visual way...) being informed about it in general terms. Government started to train police to get more aggressive against protesters, what lead to protest by the police unions... Sometimes police stood demonstrative on the other side or separate. Neighbour country did a poll, population voted against nuclear energy we did not get asked about it, but had it many years earlier, as polls of that kind were less in general Only the naive believed in those kind of statements (like its clean....) see the need to store the nuclear wast for a veryyyy loooong time. So called 'final storages' were also a hot theme, no one wanted those in their state or regions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-nuclear_movement The German entry tells a bit more about the different countries, maybe use e.g. google translate (microsoft seems also to offer it), might be interesting in this case. Before VCR you either watched when a movie or episode got aired, with luck you might have catch it in the repeats aired in as an early morning program for the night shift worker (very reduced in numbers of titles to pick from) As the count of stations got more some older tv-series got repeated, the very small stations tended to repeat their program more than the big ones. What you missed... bad luck. As a worker you mostly didn't even really were aware about what e.g. in late midday got aired. Early afternoon was mostly for children, or repeats, and news...

  7. is to learn one foreign language not standard at US schools? Here one is the minimum for the 'lesser' schools, schools preparing for an academic follow up or ... require to learn at least 2 foreign languages My brother, who did the academic preparing route focused on languages, speaks accent free and grammatical high level several romanic (Italian, Spanish, French, Latin) based languages, English with perfect grammar, but a strong German accent (no idea why this one with accent) Me, having done a Math orientated route, had to learn only one foreign language (then only a bit), pupils doing the same nowadays have tons of especially English and way less in-depth a 2nd foreign language. But I learned also a bit for brain training and so on some other languages a bit. = its common POV since before my time how important bi-lingual or more is for the development They shuffled also 'before-Disney' titles

And E.T.,... Locally the results of Once Upon a Time in the West, Jungle Book.... spins still my mind. 15. Did you actually read through all the threads that get infected by this? Especially annoying every time a movie only nears to every chart position possible, not only this time Including in the China sub-forum, in OS, in every weekday, weekend..... thread? And 'a little bit' is not pages over pages within the same thread, the weekend thread is not only being filled with post on Sunday.... Why do you all insist on doing it in a thread that is about actuals and not in 'your' threads? To me its a forced on thing: either to have to go through all of it (I tend to read every post in the dailies even if I do not post) or to add a lot of people on ignore I'd actually prefer not to put on ignore

  18. And all of you who so blantantly ignore the rules, take all that Titanic blabla inflation admissions yadda yadda to the fan wars thread this here is the dailies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Like minded.... 😉 I do not even really like A EG (6.5/10, and feeling quite disappointed by it), so please stop again to assume Inflation absent... 1. it got written about esp in connection with certain movies already so often, it reached torture status to me per repeat (drop drop drop water outlet thingie is relaxation in comparison) 2. too many mis-use especially those to derail again a thread not meant for that (see to do that in the fan wars thread), people 'staying quite' do this for either following actually the rules or also for getting or gotten already fed up about that theme 3. If people do not want to do that there, means they do not react to 'invitations' to do so e.g. in the fan war threads,... maybe there is a reason for that too? Like being aware, but simply have no interest to again discuss it or not share the POV of what weights more, if including a lot of others markers? 4. The wording was still a swipe and an 'assumption' based on your POV how much people 'have' to do something to be considered as educated or... (even me not an US citizen, know how wrong that was). Bcs.... if you start to bring in inflation, then you have to bring in a lot of other details too. And for that we even have several other threads, see inflation / admission thread that include GWtW and HV and so on too It does not belong in the dailies, where people like myself, that want simply see the dailies and the actual situation for now, can go without having either to scroll through endless pages or having to add a lot of people on the ignore list or to stay away to not loose the fun on BO for the details they are following BO. = the group I am belonging to and one of the reasons I stay away from tome to time here for months at a time (plus working for projects that can be quote time-consuming).
  20. yes, I think no adult having to buy groceries... for a few years and such will have missed what inflation is. To me your post was - again - a swipe at people seemingly presumed less educated like yourself or whatever reason you else have why you like to include swipes.

  23. Our Shawn: Shawn Robbins‏ @ShawnRobbinsWho 4m4 minutes ago More We're in the Endgame now -- #AvengersEndgame has only movie left to overtake on the all-time global box office chart. When will it crack Avatar's $2.8 billion?
  24. Aehm, I think the audience watching a horror movie is more used to ignore RT than the general audience. Way different genres IMHO (not saying they exclude each other totally, more like used to ignore for horror, might look for other genre for the part of audience that does like both genres, and more split up for audience that prefers one genre strongly over the other, and all in between...) Hope its still clear what I mean
