this movie made no damn sense and if it didn't have "directed by christopher nolan" at the beginning, it would have an rt score of 30%

That was exactly my opinion. It was a complete waste of my time. I did not care for any of the characters and was not even invested in the protagonist character even a bit. The movie failed completely in entertaining me.

Hope Nolan goes back to his 00s type of movies.

  2. Nolan has committed the ultimate cinematic sin. He has made an utterly boring movie. The characters are not interesting. The convoluted plot is an ego trip driven mess.

The action scenes are tiring. The action scenes from both sides at the airport are exhausting to watch. Algorithm, inversion do not elicit interest.

I was bored to the point of nodding off several times only to be woken up by the loud music.

Washington is ok. Pattinson has a few decent moments. Branagh's role seems to be a continuation of his role in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit., Debiki is tall. Dimple Kapadia looks good.

Nolan movies have progressively gotten worse since Inception. This is a terrible movie.

Hope it isn't the end of a beautiful relationship. Hope there is a future for Nolan in the past. Whatever...😁😁😁

Have watched every single bond movie since Diamonds are Forever in theaters in their original release. I started with Sean Connery Bond movies as a kid. Loved the campy Roger Moore movies. Loved Casino Royale since it felt like a gritty Sean Connery movie. Solace, Skyfall and Spectre were pathetic IMHO. The last three MI movies were more James Bondish in addition to being fantastic action movies than the last three James Bond movies.

Not a rerelease, an expansion (with additional footage. You cannot rerelease a movie when it never left the theatres.

Also Endgame had already beaten Avatar’s original run even before its expansion. The expansion helped beat Avatar’s rerelease numbers.

You were absolutely fine with the snarky "give the 3 million from Endgame to TROS". If you want to act as a biased mod, fine. I have better things to do than deal with biased people.

Nope that's called expansion as it never left theatres. Besides Avatar had 2 expansions and two official re-releases and numerous others for that extra $75mn it did, which EG crossed in initial run without expansion.

Adding extra footage ain't expansion. It was making peanuts before rerelease. Even after 10 years it needed extra footage and a rerelease to beat Avatar. Anyway it was termed a rerelease.

Shouldn’t the known franchise in this case be TROS?

Kungfu Films like IpMan4 actually has limited appeal in China, and is a bigger IP in South East Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Indo) and countries like Taiwan where it is on track to beat box office records.

Anyway both films are doing well, SwoS and IpMan4 both leading the box office, with IpMan4 retaining the crown again this weekend. The losers here are the new openers and other holdovers from last week; not each other.

SW is not a popular franchise in China. I didn't realize IP man franchise is not that popular in China. It is quite popular with the English movie going crowd in India.

Not sure why your comment is so smug / sarcastic / vulgar? The answer is Not really; IpMan4 will lead the weekend again. Overall Takings for both will be close.

Both films are helping to heat up this awful December box office

They are of different genre - so I would not say that they are necessarily competing, but one thing for sure -  they are both killing all other openers including TRoS.

It is not being smug. It is shocking. I don't know who the actors are in that movie or their popularity. But to see it perform the way it is against a known franchise movie like IP 4 is something else.

The other interest in that movie is because I have watched the original tens of times. It is a perfect movie for multiple viewings.

Watching the original movie right now. Can’t help but wonder several things.

    1. If Luke had a legit role in Force Awakens, does it make it to $1 billion domestic?

    2. If they didn’t kill Luke in TLJ, how much extra would it have made via better legs?

    3. If Luke was alive for the new movie, how much bigger would the opening and total be?

    1. 960 M

    2. 730 M.

    3. 800 M

    The potential was there.

I am just going to say this:

People who think TLJ had great WoM and only internet 'trolls' didn't like it are wearing rose coloured glasses.

The weak legs for december, bad scores (party by trolls yes) on many website (the biggest cinema chain rating of TLJ were 71, TFA 81, Solo 64), worse legs almost everywere. It's clear that WoM wasn't nearly as good as TFA.

People who think TLJ is the only reason TROS is doing badly are clearly also wrong. Once the reviews came in we saw a clear slowdown in the tracking thread, TROS didn't sell it self as well as the other 2, both TFA and TLJ hurt TROS in Asia (people weren't happy with TFA in most Asian countries, so this is not on TLJ (TLJ didn't help but it definitly didn't start it ).

TLJ didn't have amazing WOM because a lot of people did really love it but clearly there is also a big group that totaly didn't like it. More so than with other movies where some people love it, some hate it most people fall in the middle. The last jedi was more like a lot of people really really liked it and a lot of them really really disliked it with a smaller middel group than normal.

I hate to disagree. I have been a life long Star Wars fan starting with Ep. 4 as a 12 year old. I consider TLJ the worst star wars movie made and it harmed the most successful movie franchise of all-time in terms of overall revenue. I have watched  all episodes movies no less than 7 times, except TLJ. Only 2 times.

  10. What a ride!!!!

The movie exceeded my expectations. It was funny, emotional and plain bad ass. The interaction between Han and Solo is brilliant and made me cry.  Luke's sequence with Rey is just perfect. Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley were very good. Their character arcs have a perfect ending.  Technically brilliant withe an awesome score. Covers the entire gamut of scores from Imperial march to Luke, Leia, Rey and Ren's themes. Action scenes are excellent.  On par with TFA and Way better than TLJ. Pacing is fast. JJ Abrams just doesn't let up. Kudos to JJ for ending the Skywalker Saga with a bang. The final scene with Rey looking up at the two suns ala Luke is fantastic.

    Rey Skywalker... 😍😍😍
