  1. How about we take talk of the film's artistic merits over to the review thread? Frankly I'm surprised that isn't up to 20 pages already.
  2. 'Depth' is seriously pushing it, but I'd agree it had heart. You could tell it was made by people who cared about the project.
  3. A 100m second weekend would be even more impressive to me than what we're seeing here, but I think it'll have burnt off a little too much demand by then. Still, Dark Shadows won't hurt it at all.
  4. I disagree - as much as I hate the title cards on the trailers I think it's masterstroke of marketing to contrive that aspect.
  5. I have to say, as someone who hates the format, hearing this 'not without 3D' over and over again is increasingly depressing.
  6. I was wondering how the hell it would make 200m with only a 52% 3D share...
  7. Since the internet is often cited as one of the many 'distractions' that has resulted in falling attendence it's hard to say. It definitely helps as a marketing tool I suppose.
  8. Someone has to make a What Went Right thread, and when they do I won't have the answer. Obviously all the all the ingredients were present and correct, but I've no idea what the 'x-factor' was. I still can't believe the team-up element provoked that much appeal.
  9. Probably not 200m. But the success of TA definitely bodes well for TDKR...
  10. Almost certainly not. When it was in the 185m ballpark it had a chance, but without 3D forget it now. Still, WB will at least be happy they stuck their trailer on the film.
  11. What did Maverik predict the OW at, out of curiosity? This must be higher than even he thought.
  12. PS - FWIW, very well done to TA. I underestimated it big time (and I'm not the only one).
  13. I'm not buying this 'TDKR is in trouble' talk. This opening just cements that people are really into movie-going now, especially these kinds of movies. TDKR picked the perfect movie to debut its trailer with.
  14. I'd say TDK took more people by surprise, but they're both equally as impressive.
