  1. Still a better effort than no effort at all on Batman's part in all his movies including TDK.
  2. Mary Jane getting married to J. Jonah's son and then dumping him last minute at the altar.
  3. So true about overrated. And quality? Lol. "Yeah sure, Spider-Man. We will all keep your secret". "Hey, could you lay your head like this so that I can kiss you upside down and try to confirm my suspicions about Spider-Man's secret identity?"
  4. Lol, it was dashrendar who brought up TASM for no good reason. I was just owning him.
  5. Losing it after losing a shipload of cash would have been more disastrous, which was exactly what would have happened if TASM had bombed. And last year, a majority at BOM were unmovable in their belief that it would do just that!
  6. True, Spidey is so damn irresistible! But my point wasn't that TASM reboot was riskier than ST reboot, baumer.
  7. How about IM as a comparison then, with IM3 giving ample focus on Tony/Pepper relationship and to a lesser extent, Tony/Rhodes. Thor 2 will most likely have Thor/Loki all over its successive trailers. STID should have put Enterprise crew first and foremost in trailers. The characters and actors deserved that much.
  8. TASM more so because it was a big budget reboot nobody but hard to please fanboys had asked for coming incredibly close on the heels of the first trilogy. A first.
  9. Making the film was still a risk. Imagine if TASM had bombed and Sony was forced to halt sequel production and lose the rights anyway?
  10. My point wasn't they didn't try to sell. My point was they tried to sell it all wrong. Enterprise crew may not be Avengers but they are a group of beloved, charismatic characters just like the Avengers with excellent dynamics and that was what the promos should have focused on. The reason the first movie was such an unexpected success.
  11. Rebooting almost immediately with a new cast and crew after the last film of the last franchise, one which was unpopular but still made money? After a sequel to that movie was in initial stages of production but was then dropped? Certainly so. Under normal circumstances, I don't see TASM getting made at all. But Sony had to keep the rights. They were literally forced to take a risk.
  12. Mandarin twist wasn't risky? And I was talking about deciding on producing Cloud Atlas as a big-budgeted, big cast movie. It is your opinion that the film was trite.
  13. Promos should have focused more on the chemistry between the Enterprise crew like how Avengers promotion focused on interaction between the actual Avengers with minimal Loki. Also, the point of a mystery villain is letting him be a mystery. When you revolve your entire promotion around him, you miss your own point.
  14. No, they like risky movies like IM3 which also feature popular characters/actors being developed further. IMO, TASM wasn't risky enough which was what kept it from attaining greatness but after watching STID, I can safely say that TASM looks like Cloud Atlas compared to the complete "play by the numbers" rulebook that was Into Darkness.
  15. Uh no, I was talking about capitalizing on what was already popular like the Marvel movies. But if I were you, I wouldn't be taking a dig at TASM right now. Seems like even that "unwanted reboot" has effortlessly kicked STID's ass OW wise.
  16. I found it weird why they weren't showcasing the Enterprise crew AKA the reason the first movie worked so well, and instead devoted so much of trailer footage to what seemed like a Lector/Joker-influenced, generic maniac fresh off the assembly line. I had a feeling that was setting things up for failure, but I thought it would at least get a decent opening based on brand name alone.
  17. Overlooking the already established Enterprise crew for a mystery, generic villain played by a relatively unknown actor was great? To be fair, the movie itself is bland, does not take any risks and the only highlights are when it just retreads old ground, so I am fine with this film underwhelming.
