  1. Hmm, good point about "The Running Man" influencing THG trilogy too. Did not realize that at all.
  2. I think AiW and Pirates 4, though commercially successful, did a lot to knock Depp off a couple of pegs down in the levels of superstardom. DS BO performance was GA's way of telling Burton/Depp that "Fool us twice.." as trailers kind of showed same old, same old. Plus, DS was based on a really obscure ancient tv show which was apparently cheesy and not that popular during its time. Not so much the case with Gatsby.
  3. LotF is such a hot mess. But I guess if it weren't for Flies, there probably wouldn't have been Battle Royale, and in turn no The Hunger Games. Of all these high school reads, the one I have forever been hoping for is a cyberpunk version of The Catcher in the Rye. Holden Caulfield is such love! Make it happen, Edgar Wright or Wes Anderson!
  4. Yup, Hiddleston played F. Scott Fitzgerald in "Midnight in Paris", the man who would go on to pen The Great Gatsby. Which is why TGG being the movie to foil IM3's plan of total BO domination is so
  5. Just realized, Gatsby raining on IM3's parade was a huge space and time travelling scheme on Loki's part. After being humiliated by the Avengers, Loki transferred his soul to Earth and sent it back almost 90 years to possess Scott Fitzgerald, compelling him to write The Great Gatsby, in anticipation of what would happen in Summer 2013. And HERE is the face of the despicable perpetrator of this diabolical act- Familiar much?
  6. I don't really think Dark Shadows/Gatsby comparison is right. GA were already let unimpressed by Depp in Pirates 4, and reaction for last Burton/Depp offering, AiW, was mixed. DS didn't seem all that exciting from the trailers too. Gatsby OTOH stars Leo, fresh off Inception/Django mega popularity and the book is one of the most popular American classics. Plus, Baz movie trailers are always neat and stylish. Gatsby overperforming shouldn't be used as a gauge for IM3 WOM at all. Leo is on a roll and GG capitalized on that nicely.
  7. Or TF2. Ugh, TF2 crawling to 400m made the 400m movie club lose a lot of its sheen for me.
  8. So true about Guardians. Till date, some people I know think I am talking about the Owls movie whenever I mention it. That is the folly of generic sounding big movies. Big Hero 6 stands out instantaneously. Heck, it was the ridiculously fun sounding title which got me to look into the characters and their appearances in comics, when I first came across them in a Spider-Man crossover event.
  9. To each his/her own. Personally, I find it awesome as it perfectly manages to capture the fun and adventurous tone of the series. Animated movies have had far more awful titles like The Croods, Tangled (ugh, takes the cake in ugliness) and even upcoming "Frozen" is so sounding.
  10. Same place as Ocean's One to Ten and Lucky Number Lone to Slix.
  11. Eh.. I know who The Lady of the Lake is. It is just that the image made me think of KKBB as I watched it some hours back and there is a whole "chapter" titled "The Lady of the Lake" in the film.
  12. Lol, just watched Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang a few hours ago. This image immediately made me think of that movie!
  13. 90% of Irfan Khan's role was in TASM deleted scenes! He was great in Slumdog and A Mighty Heart though! Anupam Kher has landed some decent roles too (Silver Linings Playbook, Bend It Like Beckham, Woody movie).
  14. Pfft. We all know it's Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan who is driving people in masses to check out his big Hollywood debut!
  15. Same name as the team of Japanese superheroes it is based on- Frankly, I find it so incredibly cool and kick-ass, BIG HERO SIX, NO FUNNY BUSINESS!
  16. I like Clooney just fine but too bad about RDJ quitting. Sandy and RDJ in a movie together would have made me go to
  17. I had no idea what it was to be fair. Just glad it isn't The Astronaut's Wife 2.
  18. Michelle P. was just soo, soo goooooddd!! Best Catwoman till date and IMO, best female performance in a superhero film so far. Edges out Chloe Moretz Grace's Hit-Girl even.
  19. Trailer in December hushed the naysayers a bit but Heath's death just a month later shut most of them up for good. There were still a few impudent ones who swore that Nicholson would never be replaceable right till TDK release.
  20. I could never relate to Maguire to be honest and when TASM casting possibilities were revealed, Andrew Garfield was my first choice from the list and Logan Lerman my 2nd. So was thrilled to have Garfield picked!! The biggest "turn" I have seen were Batfans turning on Jack Nicholson post-TDK. Up until Ledger's tragic death, diehards were swearing up and down that this "gay cowboy" would not be able to hold a light to the brilliant Jack's interpretation of the Joker. And once TDK came out, the chants from the exact same people were all "Jack was so incredibly laaaaaammmme!!"
  21. An incredibly good and seriously handled Wonder Woman movie has the potential to make more than Thor. After all, she is DC's Thor and a popular feminist icon to boot.
  22. They could have done so much more with the concept of the GL Corps and the Larger Rainbow Corps. Sinestro was so poorly handled despite them having such a brilliant talent like Mark Strong for the character! What a waste of a film and good cast!
