Bong Joon Ho is the man! He needs to make more movies. Preferably with my man Song Kang Ho.Park Chan Wook as well. Guy is a serious talent. Not counting his Korean filmography (all of which are good to great) Stoker was a wonderful debut for him in English-speaking movie.

I wouldn't know. My friends refused to see it with me after watching the first one. So...And I haven't heard much about it from my people last year. It was all about Oscar movies, CF and Frozen.

What did Hobbit 2 open to? In the 70s range, right? I don't see how it'll jump to 90M+ with the same release pattern. Finale rush factor I guess, but still, that's a big jump.

Yeah, I believe so. You definitely don't get more fan-driven than a comic book movie (or YA novel adaptations), that's for sure. And considering the horrid legs of Godzilla as compare to its OW, can't beat the fan rush factor of that either.

What are those on top of Optimus Prime? Gas pipes? So presales on par with the recent 90M openers. Should open higher than those movies then since TF is not fan-driven as those.

IM3 came right after TA, riding its coattails. It also featured, well... Iron Man, who is the most popular Avenger, especially in Asian countries. CA2 came last of the three Phase 3 movies and also suffered from the bad reception of TFA. And featuring a patriotic type of character. Cap did very well on his own though, opened a good amount over the first and having pretty good legs too. And I think of the 3 superheroes movies thus far, it still has the highest gross in HK (helped by weaker competitions it seems, but still)Besides, for all the hate IM3 gets, audience OS no doubt liked it. It opened well and had good legs in many countries.

I do always enjoy the extreme and exaggerated meltdowns. This has turned out to be a very exciting summer.

I think audience can also be pretty specific about what they want in certain movies. Maleficent was advertised as a Jolie show, and they got that out of it. Kinda the same way that people simply want to see a Transformers movies for spectacular actions and visuals with robots. And Bay gives them that.

Maybe cause I'm not too familiar with unexpected BO performance, but HTTY2 case the head-scratching inducing to me. The reasons I've seen for it not doing well in a basically empty market like this summer are just not very convincing.Well, I guess unexpected is just that, unexpected.
