About the revisionist thing I agree. Before the movie opened many of us were hopeful but we had some doubts and were cautious with estimates: Unknown characters, "weak" end of summer release date, weird vibe. Looking back in retrospect at GoTG elements it all seems like a no-brainer: It's got Disney marketing, Marvel branding and it combines the two most reliable genres in movies today: Live action Superheroes to attract teens/YA & animation/animated characters to attract families. :wub:Revisionist view: How did we ever doubt this thing?

Is it really true/typical that Sundays outperform Saturday attendance during Labor Day 4D weekends? I was aware of the Monday boosts of course but did not recall Sundays surging over Saturdays.

Why open something like this 2 days early and burn off B/O? Creating the biggest B/O numbers for the weekend headlines is what the studio should've been focused on. Not that moving this to a traditional Friday opening would have helped apparently?

I was wondering what caused the drops as well. 9 out of the top 10 dropped from the initial estimates. It's unusual when all of the studios have consistent overestimates like that?

The most important thing that Disney could do for Spiderman if they aquired it for the MCU would be to give it time to breath. Rest the franchise in a way that Sony cannot. If Sony does not produce picture after picture they lose the rights to the franchise. Hence all of the rushed rebooting and the upcoming needless disasters like Sinister Six.

Exactly! The only thing that may discourage them from doing this is the fact that Guardians will blow through the $260M number blocking Lego from any chance at reclaiming #1.
