Malick's best work and probably the most gorgeous film I have seen. The combination of Nestor Almendros' visuals, Morricone's score and Linda Manz's voiceover creates the kind of magic you rarely see in a film. And unlike *ahem* some of Malick's later films, Days of Heaven is exactly as long as it needs to be.

truly wonderful for most of the film, i thought it fell to bits after the left the mansion (wtf was up with that music?). but i can't ignore the majority, and so...

And as Jake says, the voiceover is otherworldly and magical. It's really a thing of beauty, and Malick's best movie.
