what a wonderful surprise. pure emotional exploitation; it is my belief that as long as the exploitation isn't boring and cliche, it can highlight more about the human condition than playing it straight. it might be a little messy in editing, mostly the first half, but by the prom we are painfully entranced watching the doomed bliss of carrie's first date, knowing precisely what's going to happen. the character introductions are good enough as well. was expecting a shit movie to be honest.
