It look like the Apes are winning the weekend. At least in admissions. From Thursday till Saturday Dawn is falling just 6% for a total of 140k admissions. Trans4mers during the same period sold 136k tickets, dropping only 15% (Transfermers 3 fell 55% on its third weekend)

Weekend Top 5: 

 

1- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, 200678 adm, -5%. Cume: 548968 adm, around $3.5m

2- Trans4mers, 195323 adm, -12%. Cume: 1186040 adm, around $7.8m

3- Los Rompeolas, 142951 adm, -3%. Cume: 636259 adm

4- Socios por Accidente, 124937 adm, +33%. Cume: 291368 adm

5- Planes 2, 121990 adm, -10%. Cume: 369911 adm, around $2.2m

 

Dawn and Tf4 head to head finish. The Apes sold more admissions but both movies did around $1.2m, anyone could win taking gross into account, it depends on 3D tickets. Planes 2 held well but it's still faaaaaaaaar far away from Car 2. 

 

HTTYD 2 increased 60% and it sold 907865 adm in total (around $5.4m). Maleficent also was up 28% for a new total of 1812408 adm, around $10.6m and it enters the All Time Top 20 (by gross). TFioS reached 600k admissions.

And this week are also holidays in Buenos Aires province and in the Capital City so good numbers are expected!!! Don't worry xSabrinax, HTTYD 2 will enter the 1m admissions club!!! It is going to do at least 3 times what the first Dragon did back in 2010!!!   ;)

Yay! Can't wait for the numbers.  :D

I mean not today but the rest of the year.It's pretty curious, this market seems in good shape despite Argentina is in recession.

Actually it was doing pretty good until the World Cup started. Now it's doing around 12% worst than 2013 but around 8% better than 2010 when the World Cup was in South Africa and Argentina didn't do pretty well.

4- Socios por Accidente, 202971 adm, +22%. Cume: 369718 adm

5- Planes 2, 201356 adm, -19%. Cume: 449277 adm, around $2.6m

 

 

Dawn won the week by less than 400 admissions. It could change when the small theaters report their numbers later today.

 

Trans4mers did the best third week for 2014, beating Frozen (263554 adm during the summer holidays) and Maleficent (222193 adm without the benefit of any holiday). It also passed Transformers 3 in admissions and in $ (Tf3 did 1.275k adm and $8.1m)

 

HTTYD 2 sold 149214 tickets (+45%) on its run to pass 1m admissions (Its total right now is 971996 adm and around $5.8m). 

 

Maleficent also was up 23% for a new total of 1842402 adm, around $10.8m. I think its almost the end of its run but maybe $11m is still possible, the holidays are not over until Sunday. 

 

Guardians of the Galaxy opens today in 254 screens and it should win the weekend. Let's see tomorrow morning how it does on its OD.
