ITALY (Botteghino): 'Inside Out 2' BREAKS opening-weekend record for Hollywood films

Recommended Posts

Another big drop for AoU on Monday: € 218.852 with only 35.816 tickets sold (-71% vs sun and -61% vs past monday). In fri/sun frame it is down 50%, despite this week  the holiday day was fri instead of sat, which is more favorable.

ECL match Juve vs Real on free TV hurt again AoU that collect a mere 161K€ on tuesday, but sufficent to pass 14M.

I am sure we had the same problem here in Spain. Also on Wednesday because of Barça-Bayern. And it is going to hurt La Fiesta del Cine next week :(

But looking at the bright side it's going to be nice to win again the Champions League :P

First weekend of summer weather cuts boxoffice legs for openers and holdovers. However this does not prevent AoU to win its third weekend in a row. The Disney/Marvel movie is at € 15.198.829 with 2.088.063 admissions by Sunday, only 50k less than the Avengers (but 300K less of Cinderella!): it is sure that AoU will win in admissions, but it also clear that it will not able to outpace the predecessor in gross (18M€), seeing that in 2nd full week it have reach only 1,5M€ and 947K in weekend. Other competitors are Doreamon (472K), The Age of Adaline (366K/2,54M), Child 44 (235K/930K) and Run all Night (188K/799K). The Gunman opens with 165K and Marigold Hotel 2 is at 667K after two weeks. FF7 is at 18,55M€ and Home at 3,08M€.

Well, Italy usually doesnt love action movies. I wasnt expecting anything good for Max here.

Mad Max has 48% of share in twitter reactions here, better than Aou in opening week, but I don't know if this will turn in tickets sold. Bad weather could help. Thursday numbers aren't significant either for strong frontrunners here, so that some experts are critical about the actual utility of the opening day on thursday. The most important to predict the run are first Saturday or first Sunday in case of animated/family movies. (A good example for a likely good run  is the  OW of Cinderella: Fri+60% - Sat+160% - Sun + 50%: lower day on Thu, Fri/Sat up more than 100% and Sun bigger than Sat).
