So epically low-budget and badass.

Somehow this movie manages to never fall apart despite all the silliness, the cheesy lines, the cheap sets and vfx, a maeandering plot and an eclectic cast. A favourite of mine as a teenager and still eminently watchable (other than the L.A.-"remake"). I guess it's Kurt Russell, he's that cool, and he got so much presence on screen, he makes me forget about any shortcomings. Sure, there's other nice actors, like Lee van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine, Harry Dean Stanton - but they pale in comparison.

 

Fun fact: Today, we use CGI to shoot scenes otherwise too expensive. In Escape fron NY, they used models to shoot the CGI sequence

Great and vastly entertaning 1980s movie with one of the more memorable characters. Kudos to the cheesy electronic score by John Carpenter...
