That's right. Despite millions of points being scored, the gap between 5th and 7th was 6000 points! It's crazy, Last year's champion was never going to give up his crown without a fight but sadly a repeat of that memorable out of nowhere victory was not to be as Blank (like many before him) faltered on the Worldwide side.

 

Strong in almost every other discipline, only the next few posts and reveals will show how close (or far) he was from an unprecedented level of glory...

Like Blank before him, Dajk's weakness came in the WW top 10. Everything else was strong, damn strong and with just a couple of international releases going his way he could have been standing atop of the podium instead of staring longingly from afar at the top three and wondering what might have been.

... beat him by 1000 points! This is just crazy that 1000 points decided 3rd and 4th. Ice nailed the Preseason 15 and got big scores in the Hunger Games and top 10 WW questions too (in fact a top 10WW in line with the last couple of players would have dropped them down to 10th)

 

The top 15 was the difference between 3rd and any potential push for glory but it is still a great effort and worthy or the position. It still does seems crazy to me that 67000 points is all that separates 3rd and 9th.

It came down to the 2-horse race  that had been forming for some time. Both Darkelf and the winner were consistency personified in this winter-long battle and its a shame that one had to lose. Even with an average top 15, super strong weekly scores, SOTMs, WW top 10's top 7 OWs and so on meant that it was only going to be a mighty performance that would deny darkelf the overall win.

 

Sadly, that's what he came up against.

So it came down to 13 thousand points are all that. About half an average weekly questions score. Nothing really. But in the end Grim pulled out the victory which was always in doubt whilst totting up the scores.

 

Grim vs Darkelf was so close in so many categories. Grim edged the weekly scores, but then darkelf came back in the SOTMs and Preseason 15s.  The Hunger Games was neck and next only for Grim to pull out a lead from the low grossers. However then Darkelf made a major leap forward from the OW top 7 only to lose that entire advantage for the world wides meaning Grim just had to keep with 27k of Darkelf's top 15 total to win and he was able to just pull it off.

 

It was a great contest with great entrants and winner all round and thanks to all of you who played and hope to see you for the summer time.
