Ian McKellan delivers a fantastic performance in it, and if you're remotely a fan of the famed detective, you'd probably enjoy the film. That said, it's seriously lacking in the technical department, as the film has lazy digital cinematography that makes everything look cheap and the score is surprisingly generic for Burwell. The mystery is alright, but overall, it's more of a mediation on growing old... which is fine, but not exactly what I wanted. Still I was happy I saw it. B+
