The offshore cume is now $14.3M and the worldwide haul $83.6M. There were four openings in the current frame including a No. 2 in South Africa, with $305K at 97 dates. That tops comps like 21 Jump Street,Two Guns and Ride Along 2. Peru was a No. 4 start with $266k at 83 dates and is looking like U’s best comedy opening ever after the two Teds in the market. Germany gave CI the No. 2 slot in its 2nd frame for an 11-day total of $3.8M. Next weekend sees bows in key plays of the UK and Mexico. PanaMovie Posted July 3, 2016 Share Posted July 3, 2016 The New Line/Universal comedy crossed $100M worldwide ($125.9M) this weekend coming off a $13.8M offshore gross as it expanded significantly. Playing in 43 territories, the Kevin Hart/Dwayne Johnson-starrer now has an international total of $30.3M. As the only major comedy offering offshore, the film opened in 15 extra markets this frame led by the UK at No. 3 with $4M. In comps, it bowed at the same level as Spy, Knight And Day and The A Team. Australia started off at No. 2 with $3.5M and will be No. 1 for the weekend in many locations with strong Sunday results expected thanks to great audience reaction. Mexico opened No. 4 with $1.5M. New Line Cinema’s action-comedy opened in Spain with $832k to chart second for the biggest debut for Kevin Hart in the market. That takes the international total to a solid $63M. There were seven new openings in the frame including No. 1s in Lebanon, the UAE ($1.3M) and the other Middle East markets ($1M). Taiwan ($418K/71 dates), Hong Kong ($378K/30) and Italy ($366/225) also bowed. In the latter, the pic is running ahead of most comps and has little competition ahead. Combined with Warner Bros.’ estimated domestic cume of $123.1M, the worldwide total is now $195.5M. There were no new openings this weekend. The top holdover market is Australia which is in its fourth weekend of release with a 25-day total of $10.9M. The U.K. and Ireland has a 24-day total of $10.5M. Germany is next with $7.4M. With eight more territories to release, next weekend will see the buddy action film open in Chile and Colombia with Argentina on deck for Aug. 14. Belgium, France and French-Switzerland will come next on Aug. 24, with Venezuela debuting two days later and then Brazil on Sept. 1.
