You Can Count on Me is a lovely small drama. Sammy, Terry, and Rudy are a really wonderful family to watch despite all their dysfunction, and Linney, Ruffalo, and Culkin bring the three to life with truly fantastic performances. Lonergan's script is exquisitely written, and every character just feels real. It all builds up to an emotional climax that is utterly devastating in its power that feels entirely earned. It's hard to describe what makes You Can Count on Me a great film, but if one sees, they will recognize its really magnificent quality. A must-watch. A-

This movie wrecked me.

It doesn't have big twist and turns and nothing overtly dramatic happens, but on the other hand is not overtly "real" and like a documentary, it's just a little movie about how important the people you love is to you that feels so natural and emotionally honest. Linney, Ruffalo and the kid were all amazing and very subtle in this.
