Quote The No. 1s include Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Indonesia, Poland, Romania, Sweden and Taiwan. HesAPooka
$19.8m Quote American Made debuted in 14 territories this weekend for a total of 35 territories in release. Tom Cruise’s latest starring vehicle added $9.1m for an early international total of $19.8m. Spain produced $1.4m, while the Netherlands produced $469,000 for first place. The UK produced $1.2m during its second session, lifting the market total to $3.8m, while Australia produced $1.3m for $3.6m. There are 30 territories to open over the next three months, starting with seven this week, including Germany and Hong Kong. https://www.screendaily.com/box-office/dunkirk-battles-to-top-of-international-box-office/5121935.article Edited September 3, 2017 by HesAPooka

I don't know what markets you're looking at to get your figures so I can't comment on them, but looking at Australia American Made opened to 325,000 less than JR2. JR2 had grossed 3.6m by its second weekend and American Made has grossed 3.6m by its second weekend. For UK American Made only saw a 12.5% drop from it's OW compared to 53% for JR2. Granted JR2 opened well above what American Made did, but still even if it continues to enjoy drops in the 20-25% range it may end up not far off JR2. For Spain JR2 opened to 700k and grossed 1.5m total while American Made opened to 1.4m so it's not unthinkable for American Made to gross 100m+ overseas especially it sees nice holds. Hard to say just yet since we don't have a complete list of markets American Made has opened in and what it grossed in each of those markets. Boxoffice mojo has updated the total foreign gross for American Made but hasn't updated each individual market yet.

HesAPooka
@Barnack Again I think it's too early to tell just yet especially when you're just comparing opening weekend and American Made is holding considerably better than JR2 so I stand by my 100m+ is not out of the question.

John Rambo
Looks like AM will end up as Lowest grossing Cruise movie OS in recent times if the same trend continues in other markets. Markets like Spain (1.5x times) and Poland Bigger (2.5x times) and better than JR2 which kinda bodes well for certain markets which might breakout for AM.(Potentially) It opens in Germany this weekend, since germans like comedy, if this is marketed as Comedy it might open well here.
Alli
yeah, i don't think this make 100M anymore. september has plenty of movie alternatives. it held good the second week because it had no competition. 80M would be a good target. el sid
Nice to see a tread for this film . I would say AM or Barry Seal as the movie is named in Germany (this change of name is also not helpful) really has or had the problem that for many moviegoers it was just below radar level. E.g. I learned about that film only a few days ago when I read the first positive review in Germany. I had no idea that another Tom Cruise-film which is said to be good will be released this summer/autumn. Probably that it starts weeks later in the USA caused that lack of notice. But as mentioned above AM had nice holds last weekend (GB only – 8.8%), Australia (-28.4% and a solide average), Czech Republic (-6.9%), so I don't dare to predict the final OS result so far. IMO it could be the same in Germany, a not too good start despite the good reviews and enough copies (470) but good holds. At least the weather is said to be rather mixed next weekend which will help. And I don't see that many competition in September. „It“ is not so well known here and darker, maybe Kingsman 2 could be a bigger problem, but that's it more or less. Either way I'm looking forward to it .
HesAPooka
Based on this weekends UK hold it looks like should make its way to something 8.5m there (just under JR2's 9.8) which should give it a multiplier of 6.2. Small 35% drop in Australia, it's now outpacing JR2 and it looks to finish with something in the neighborhood of 5.5+ (just over JR2's 4.7m). Germany opened to 1.7m for JR2 while American Made opened to 1.4m, if it holds well there it should gross more than JR2 as well. Curious to see how Spain will hold as American Made opened to 1.5m there while JR2 grossed 1.5m total. Small Asian markets are opening considerable lower than JR2 for American Made, not much numbers go by so far but don't see them holding as well there either. South Korea and China getting a release date will make or break AM in Asia. Also will be curious to see if AM does better in South America compared to other Cruise movies given the subject. Quote Tom Cruise’s American Made grossed $8.1m from 43 territories for an early international total of $33.4m. The film debuted at number two in Germany on $1.4m. While it debuted in German-Switzerland at number one on $339,000. Hong Kong produced $481,000 in week one, while the UK held at number two in week three on $892,000 for a total of $5.6m. There are 22 territories to open over the next three months. This weekend, American Made debuts in Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, France, Italy along with six other territories. https://www.screendaily.com/box-office/spider-man-homecoming-takes-708m-in-china-debut/5122230.article Edited September 11, 2017 by HesAPooka

In Poland it has grossed 1m+ in 10 days It has done reasonable business OS especially Asia. In Taiwan its close to 2m in 10 days and 1.5m in Indonesia in 10 days. Malaysia will end up grossing more than 1m which is good considering malaysian audiences like Action! Surprisingly Singapore has opened lesser than Malaysia...SG ususally accepts such niche movies better than Malaysia! Anyways if it grosses close to 1m or more than 1m its because of Cruise! Not sure how China will perform but Oblivion (20m) numbers would do good for this movie to cross 100m. Japan and SK are Wild Cards may break out or maynot! Japan Oct 21 release! European Audiences tend to like these kind of movies more than asian audiences as it it relate able. LA is a big ? Not sure. TC is not as big as earlier in these markets. The Mummy performed better in LA compared to Europe but AM might end up close to JR2 figs in LA worst case! Lets hope for the best.
