I think for certain cities (like Montreal area) perhaps there is so much content from the summer so far, esp if those films are doing decent (and a certain movie about hydrogen or something), not helping as for them to decide which seats to release for pre-sale. Someone mentioned something about Disney still having screens tied up for Indy still, was seeing a lot of this here, very few Imax/prestige screens. Still this is incredible to see this with a non-tentpole movie. Apparently Friday sales are verboten at the moment out west for Strays. And for the Thurs shows, of the theatres I regularly track, these are it. I know August is a tough month, but wow this is....looking at empty theatres and lack of theatres doing presales for upcoming films is hard.
