CAD depreciated between 20-23% from Jan 2010 to May 2019, so in local currency Endgame should be just above Avatar (not, of course, counting inflation), it would obviously still remain below TFA Edited January 3, 2020 by Justin4125

DAJK
Not surprised at the Skyfall "overperformance", that movie was MASSIVE in Canada. I remember it being sold out everywhere in Vancouver/Victoria, and when I went to it on a matinee like 3 weeks into its run it was still a full house (in a small town no less). Jiffy
Yeah multiplying by 10 seems a good way to gauge the over-performers relative to the entire NA take. LOTR was pretty huge there.

charlie Jatinder
I knew that Quebec box office was reported separately but didn't realised Admits are too. Found some data. Also seems like Quebec share of overall Canada is reducing fast, donno why. Any idea ( @baumer @RthCorona ) I mean Quebec was like 20% of Titanic while just 10% of Endgame and Avengers: Endgame. I assume the numbers are Canadian gross. DAJK
@charlie Jatinder not sure why Quebec's share would be reducing in the long run (over the past 10 years). At least right now, as theatres start to open, I could understand why its share is much much lower, as it was hit by far the hardest by the pandemic per capita than any other province. It could be that perhaps local films are starting to do bigger business? I might be completely wrong about this, but I've heard about many more French films in the past few years than I ever used to before, and they are occasionally in Quebec's top 5 box office. Not sure if it's a trend towards consuming more local content, or if that just has absolutely nothing to do with it. Maybe it's a factor though? Once the box office starts to pick up again, you can bet I'm going to be spending A LOT more time in this thread. Would love to be able to finally discuss Canadian box office
charlie Jatinder
As per Cinecho Endgame did $11.9mn plus, I don't know if it C$ or US$. So the above numbers are wrong https://www.cinoche.com/films/avengers-phase-finale/box-office
charlie Jatinder
One thing I noticed regarding Quebec box office is that share of French language is reducing. For instance Titanic: $13.83mn in French and $4.37mn I assume English Avatar: $10.85mn in French & $6.2mn English SW:TFA: $7.64mn in French & $5.6mn English Endgame: $5.1mn in French & $5.2mn English The Avengers: $5.2mn in French & $3.1mn English Infinity War: $3.84mn in French & $3.76mn English What could be the reason?
charlie Jatinder
Comparing C$ gross of MCU films in Canada with rest of NA in USD Iron Man: C$28.5mn i.e. 9.8% of rest of NA $290mn Iron Man 2: C$30.25mn 10.7% of rest of NA $284mn Iron Man 3: C$39mn 10.6% of rest of NA $370mn Captain America - Civil War: C$45mn 12% of rest of NA $374mn. Despite grossing higher than Iron Man 3, exchange rates put Civil War a bit lower. Avengers: Assemble: C$61mn 10.8% of $563mn Avengers: Age of Ultron: C$52mn 12.5% of $416mn Avengers: Infinity War: C$81mn 13.2% of $616mn Avengers: Endgame: C$114mn 14.7% of $774mn Captain Marvel: C$57mn 14.8% of $384mn Spiderman - Far From Home: C$49mn 13.9% of $353mn The general share of MCU has increased in Canada. Exchange rates aren't as good as in Early 2010s and Late 2000s. Though not at The Force Awakens level yet, but can expect in future. Star Wars: The Force Awakens: C$134mn 16% of $840mn Star Wars: The Last Jedi: C$80mn 14.4% of $556mn Edited August 30, 2020 by charlie Jatinder
charlie Jatinder
TENET $2.4mn Approx 5 days weekend till 30th August. Edited September 12, 2020 by charlie Jatinder
charlie Jatinder
In incomplete data, TENET in Quebec has grossed C$271,943 in 2490 shows with 25,833 admits. That's C$109 per show. I guess so far there has been 75-80k shows in Canada till 09/13. That will give about C$8-8.7mn or $6.1-6.6mn. Co-incidently, my estimates are $6.45mn, that's right in the middle of the range 😛 Spongebob has C$94k in 1604 shows. C$59 per show. I think it had around 90k shows approx. That will be C$5.3mn. Official number is C$5.25mn Approx. Edited September 15, 2020 by charlie Jatinder
charlie Jatinder
In incomplete Quebec data. TENET is now C$803,590 on 11,135 shows and 85,814 admits. That's barely 7.7 admits per show. Spongebob is C$360,427 on 6,533 shows with 48,649 shows. The official numbers for Spongebob movie are C$6mn Approx. I think around C$11-11.5mn for TENET in Canada so far.
