Eric Atreides
So yeah, the future of theatrical exhibition is very shaky right now. Even after a vaccine hits, it's probably going to take a while before we get back into the swing of things. For big numbers, even more so. So this begs the question: When are we hitting these milestones again? What year will we see a movie earn 100M on its opening weekend in the States? What year will we get a billion-dollar grosser? It's hard to really say as nobody knows what the future of movie theaters hold and how films will be exhibited into the future. But that's what makes it fun. Basically just fill the poll at the top, and sound off what you feel. If you want to mention a specific movie, even better.
WrathOfHan
The next 100M OW will be sometime in Q3 or Q4 2021. The next billion dollar movie will be Avatar 2.
Maggie
Wonder Woman 1984 next summer
CloneWars
The Batman or Avatar (assuming it stays in 2021) will hit $1B. I expect Black Widow, Wonder Woman, or The Batman to hit $100M OW. So, unless the virus thing is still a major issue all of 2021, I am saying 2021 we will get another $100M OW and $1B grosser.
JGAR4LIFE
Batman, Spider-Man, Jurassic World Dominion, and Avatar 2, one or two will cross a billion, maybe all 4 but they’re the best candidates The next $100M OW could be any of the current November/December 2020 blockbusters if they’re pushed back into the summer of 2021
