Longlegs did not overperformed on Brazil like it did in US, with an opening bellow Immaculate and Trap. IMO they waited too long to release this, and the beggining of september is a weird date for an horror. It Ends With Us and Deadpool remained on the first two spots, splendit legs for both. From the releases of last weekend only The Crow survived, and even so with a bad drop. Estômago 2 failed a top 10 opening. As predicted, the real winner is Harry Potter who managed to get 3 of the 10 spots this weekend thanks to the re-release on saturday. Next weekend should turn things around with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Kill, Vovó Ninja, Othello O Grande, Rally Road Racers, Cinderella's Revenge and Zuzubalândia. 2
ThatWaluigiDude
This year's Independence Day will happen this saturday and you should expect this to damage the box office, as it almost always happens when a big holiday happens on saturday or sunday. ThatWaluigiDude
With this weekend's re-release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the movie reached 773.8k admissions this year (Reminder that is the second time Azkaban hit theaters in 2024), now 23% of the movie's total comes from 2024. This is after Coraline's re-release made more than it's original run. The re-release market is becoming a very profitable one for Brazil, with Superman, Tim Burton's Batman, Matt Reeves's The Batman coming back and with rumours of Joker coming back too. Here is a list with some notable re-releases this year and how much they've done this year: Coraline: R$4.25M Bad Boys For Life: R$3.1M Godzilla Vs Kong: R$1.5M Oppenheimer: R$733k Dune: R$407k Beetlejuice: R$135k Blade Runner: R$23k Estômago: R$23k The Dark Knight: R$22k Elemental: R$22k Barbie: R$21k 9 1/2: R$20k Nosso Lar: R$14k Edited September 5 by ThatWaluigiDude

ThatWaluigiDude
The first 24 hours of pre-sales from Joker were around 10x from Alien Romulus, 4x Furiosa's but 1/7 of Deadpool & Wolverine. A pretty good start though to be honest I was expecting a bigger impact giving the first one's performance in Brazil.
ThatWaluigiDude
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took the lead on thursday, with R$875k. Should see an opening weekend about R$6M+. The next Cinema Week got a date, starting on 12th. Earlier than I expected. It will be the opening weekend of Silvio and Speak no Evil. Before this no Angel Studio aside from Sound of Freedom released on Brazil.
ThatWaluigiDude
Out of nowhere, Universal pushed back The Wild Robot's pre-release...to be out this thursday, despite being still 1 month away. They will be taking advantage of the Cinema Week and the movie will be cheaper like every other movie this weekend. Now Brazil is the first country to commercially release The Wild Robot.

Still behind 1M admissions like last weekend. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opened at 1st, marking the 4th time a Warner movie opened on the top this year and, in return, had the 4th best Warner opening. It was a healthy opening and I can say it was on the higher end after the 1st day. Longlegs had a surprising boost on the second weekend, just like DM4. Hellboy: The Crooked Man opened slightly above the 2019 reboot and Inside Out 2 reached amazing 3 months on the top 10. Next weekend is the Cinema Week, with the surprising last minute pre-release of The Wild Robot, alongside Speak No Evil, Silvio, My Penguin Friend, A Silence and the Usher and Riize concerts. 4
