KATCH-2D2
apes 2 began previews this thursday 17th Its already done over lc24m/1.9m adm in what they are calling previews , OD should be close to lc1.9m Previews do screw up the real opening weekend number big time but since quite a few movies have done the same it's only fair, I think. In the end it's the total that count anyway.

I hate that kind of change. So now not only we don't have 'real' weekend numbers but the weekend numbers these days aren't relevant to B.O. history either.. Does Apes2 preview number looks good then? And how much in USD is lc1.9mil? Edited July 19, 2014 by KATCH
Wally
Looks like people don't go to cinemas in Brazil as much as in Mexico. 5.5 million admissions in a 220 million country. 10 million admissions in a 119 million country. People like cinema here, but they don't usually love it. Most of the tickets are usually sold to younger people.

These 2 markets have a similar size because while Mexico has more admissions Brazil has higher ticket prices.

Fullbuster
apes 2 began previews this thursday 17th Previews, again? Still that's good news for this movie,I will watch it next week and I can't wait,I loved the first one So I hope it can be HUGE in Brazil. Apes 1 got 14m there,I hope this one canreach 25m,something beyond 30m (first of the year) would be absolutely wonderful
Fullbuster
Around $0.85m That's...disappointing. But it was what I expected. We can expect 4m-5m OW.So that means it will reach 14m-15m by Sunday. After that it will need 7m to reach TF3,that won't be easy but it's possible.I can see it ending around 24m.Nothing amazing but it would be ahead of TF3 unlike most of the countries. KATCH-2D2
Around $0.85m So roughly $10mil total as of Fri. With Apes2 opening can it do another $10 to top TF3?

It reached 10.2m last Wednesday,so if you add 0.8m on Thursday it reached $11m on Thursday

Well, it isn't one of SH movies, animations or YA adaptations so NOT dropping from TF3 is good enough for me...
Fullbuster
Well, it isn't one of SH movies, animations or YA adaptations so NOT dropping from TF3 is good enough for me... Good point indeed.24m would mean around +10% over TF3,satisfying given Brazil is not keen on giant robots.
KATCH-2D2
It reached 10.2m last Wednesday,so if you add 0.8m on Thursday it reached $11m on Thursday OK I forgot that OD=Thursday. It's Sat night in Australia so I thought every new report was for Fri. That's good. The previews did take away the demand so I understand why it didn't make a big number on OD. The OW report is going to look big on paper.

Hernan Gonzalez
Plus any increases would keep my 1bil hope alive. Don't worry, it should be over $16m by Sunday. And $1b is more than locked

You're optimistic,I like this state of mind That being said it's perfectly possible,I'm too cautious sometimes like Dragon 2 proved it
Fullbuster
So,I was curious about the World Cup effect for Dilma Rousseff about her re-election,and I was not alone. This is the first poll since the event ended : SÃO PAULO—Brazil President Dilma Rousseff is losing ground with potential voters and raising the odds that she will face a runoff in October's presidential election, according to the first poll released after the humiliating exit of the national team from the 2014 World Cup. Although Ms. Rousseff is still favored to win against Aecio Neves of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party and Eduardo Campos of the Brazilian Socialist Party, a survey published Friday by the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo showed the president reducing her advantage over the main contender. In the poll, conducted by Datafolha, 36% of respondents said they would vote for Ms. Rousseff, down from 38% in a poll earlier this month. Mr. Neves had 20% support, the same level saw in the previous poll, and Mr. Campos had 8% support, down from 9%. With such results, Ms. Rousseff would still be able to secure her re-election in the first round, but her margin over contenders has narrowed. Under Brazilian electoral rules, a candidate must secure more votes than all other contenders combined to be elected outright in the first round. The challenging scenario for Ms. Rousseff is underscored by the scenario in a potential runoff against Mr. Neves. According to Datafolha, Ms. Rousseff would secure 44% of votes in a runoff, versus 40% for Mr. Neves. http://online.wsj.com/articles/brazil-president-loses-ground-after-world-cup-defeat-poll-shows-1405680220?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LatestHeadlines Edited July 19, 2014 by Fullbuster

Well, with increases during the weekend (Sat/Sun) it's not unlikely to reach 16m.I think 15m is more likely but I'm the cautious kind, you can be hopeful Edited July 19, 2014 by Fullbuster
