This is my prediction for Dory in local currency : R$70m

It is a conservative number because I'm cautious, a breakthrough would put it closer to 80-85m..But still, with 70m Dory would become the only Pixar/Disney movie in the top 10 of animated movies in Brazil, a prowess, and a historical mistake would be fixed :P

The Good Dinosaur almost did it, being 11th with R$48.3m behind the 10th biggest (The Smurfs, 52m).

In USD that would give it 20-21m because of the ER that is still horrible even if it's a bit better now, it would be slightly lower than Frozen in USD.

If this trend continues Brazil should pass Russia, the UK, South Korea and France in admissions by 2018/2019, making it the 5th biggest markets in admissions behind the US, India, China and Mexico. Given its bigger and younger population it was inevitable.

When the ER recovers the numbers in USD will impress many BO watchers. Don't forget that Civil War would be around $70m with April 2012's ER.

Ice Age 5 is probably the only other movie of the year that could join them..unless the ER markedly improves.

Incredible to see ice age in top 10

Sadly it is almost certain Ice Age 5 won't reach this top 10 because of the exchange rates...With the current ER it would need R$150.8m to reach $44.6m and as a result being in 10th position. With R$150.8m Ice Age 5 would become the biggest movie ever, passing The Avengers 2 (147m) and far ahead Ice Age 4 (around R$95m).

It's very unlikely.-_-

How come The Smurfs is so lucrative here?

Funny exercise :

What would be the top 5 of the year in USD with April 2012's ER? -> $1 = 1.85BRL (instead of $1 = 3.34BRL on June 24)

Captain America Civil War : $77m

Batman vs Superman : $71.6m

Os Dez Mandamentos : $62.9m

Deadpool : $44.3m

X-Men Apocalypse : $34.3m

I really want Dory to be a huge and unexpected success in the UK, if there is a Pixar movie that can do it it's this one! Pixar/Disney deserve such a success they never had here (mostly modest-to-good numbers).

I think the future is pretty bright for Pixar in Brazil though : Toy Story 4 could have Marvel and Star Wars toys, The Incredibles 2 will be about superheroes and Brazilians love that.

Fox didn't report ID2's numbers in Brazil

It's probably so small they're too ashamed to report that.

I will give you this number in USD when I get my hands on the numbers in BRL. ;)
