Carlangonz
In other news... Eugenio Derbez confirmed that Overboard is opening on May 4th. With Videocine's power there's no doubt the movie is going to steal a lot of screens to Infinity War, just like happened last year with HTBALL-GOTG2. Deadpool 2 is also opening on May 18th, so that's a really crowded scenario for the Marvel Studios' production; its legs are gonna be affected, worst considering that events like these (AOU, CW, DH2) are insanely front-loaded. Carlangonz
FEBRUARY 9-11 WEEKEND. ANASTASIA WINS ON GROSS BUT VALENTINA WINS ON ADMISSIONS. Fifty Shades Freed - 6.5% under 50 Shades Darker and 43% behind 50 Shades of Grey. - Valentine's Day is going to help it to pass $100M, specially being discount wednesday. - Is playing at 2,200 screens, but is going to lose a lot next weekend with the opening of Black Panther. - One more time, was proven that the franchise is heavily front-loaded, since it had an unusual performance: it made almost 50% of its gross on OD, saturday and sunday had hard drops and losed #1 to local opener: Boda de Valentina. The local film draws same audience as the erotic drama so upcoming weekends is going to fall like a rock of a cliff. La Boda de Valentina - 6th highest local opener of all-time. - Its main target is female audiences and is Rated-B (12+) so unlike 50SF, Black Panther won't do it much damage, after that ain't much competition so it can leg into $150M Maze Runner: The Death Cure - Pacing on par with Scorch Trials at the same point of release. Shouldn't have problem on going over $150M # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) TOTAL (USD) ADM. PS are way lower than any 2017 SH movie not-called Wonder Woman. MCU movies are very presale driven except for first solo movies like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, so no worries so far. Over $100M is a very good chance, but predicting how much more can do is difficult since this is going to depend highly on walk ups, just like WW, DS and AM.
Carlangonz
Well... Phantom Thread was just moved for next weekend. Lady Bird and All the Money in the World will be limited so i guess Disney is going all in with 3,200-3,500 screens for Black Panther. Ragnarok started Day 1 with 3,600 but ended the 4-Day weekend with 3,000 because Coco was smashing everything. Homecoming: 4,000 Guardians 2: 3,600 Doctor Strange: 3,200 Panther doesn't have the competition that any of the last three had so i think will be 3,500+ screens Edited February 13, 2018 by Carlangonz
manny1234
Even if it opens lows can it be leggy possibly like making 3 times it opening weekend if WOM is good? Edited February 13, 2018 by manny1234

Yup, that's another pro of first time solos in MCU, they have great legs. With too many positives about the movie i'm confident about the multi. Carlangonz
So yeah, Black Panther is going with 3,500+ screens, possibly is going to come closer to 4,000 than 3,500. This has everything to pull numbers in the GOTG 2/WW range ($150M+), maybe even bigger. 50 Shades is losing tons of shows and screens. Other holdovers are doing average, except for 'Boda de Valentina', which is barely losing anything.
Carlangonz
Habemus records for Black Panther! The magic number for OD is... $46.5M ($2.51M USD) +6.8% from Wonder Woman +21% from Deadpool Should easily go over Deadpool's february record ($138.8M). Following Deadpool's and Wonder Woman's track the OW would be $163M-$166M, however, Fri night businesses saw a big decrease by earthquake in nine states, including Mexico City, so could go a bit higher by sunday and finish as the 5th biggest debut for a MCU title only behind CW, two Avengers and IM3. 1 1

Nah, she isn't known as in a Gael Garcia/Diego Luna level, leave alone a Derbez league. This is merely an overperformer because is Marvel. Carlangonz
FEBRUARY 16-18 WEEKEND. BLACK PANTHER TRIUMPHS AND HOLDOVERS HAVE BAD DROPS. Black Panther - Best OW for a February opener beating Deadpool by 23.8% - 5th highest OW for a MCU title only behind CW, both Avengers and IM3 - 20th among all-time openings, between Spider-Man: Homecoming and Coco. After this opening, Disney owns 9 out of Top 20 best OW of all-time. - Locked to pass $400M. Third MCU title in a row to gross over $400M, when IW opens will tie the DCU with 4 movies in a row to do so. - With no competition is going to pass Thor: Ragnarok as 6th biggest MCU film in the country. Long shot at beating SM:HC, that would require TWS/TDW/DS legs which is not impossible but hard to do since it had a bigger opening.La Boda de Valentina - Softest drop of the Top 10 but still not-good for a local movie. This friday becomes the biggest local hit of the year, still on way to $130M+ - Faces competition next weekend with the movie 'Complices', tho i think there'll be room for bothThe Shape of Water - Next week should become 5th highest B-15 grosser only behind It, Conjuring 2, Deadpool and Annabelle: Creation. # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) TOTAL (USD) ADM.
