Shang-Chi should challenge it. Called it. After F9 no movie was going to do buzz here until No Way Home with Let There Be Carnage having the chance to do better than average.
Purple Minion
Shang-Chi up to $4.4M. Malignant had a $514k OW.

charlie Jatinder
Just awful. May be 150M full run at best case.
Purple Minion
Looks like a decent drop for Shang-Chi, held to the #1 position and crossed 100M lc, ($5.9M). Free Guy reached $3.3M.
charlie Jatinder
Added M$31M (-26%) in last 7 days. If can drop , 37.5% weekly, can hit M$168M which is still an awful number but atleast 10% better than last week.
Purple Minion
According to Box Office Pro, Shang-Chi was down just 14%. Can you imagine if it passes Black Widow...

charlie Jatinder
Seems a lot optimistic to me. Even 3x from here will not be enough, which I guess is really tough. In other POV, need 29% weekly drop. Really hard.
Purple Minion
Shang-Chi again on top, reached $6 8M.

Carlangonz
Thinking $2M for NTTD opening. Maybe $2.5M Let There Be Carnage presales looking healthy; could go by $4.5M+ OW No Way Home can't come soon enough. It would've probably smashed Endgame's opening record under normal circumstances. This time should aim to beat with ease both Black Widow's and Shang-Chi's full runs within a weekend. 1

Purple Minion
More Bond: Mexico’s cume through Friday is $1M, in line with Skyfall. The full frame should land just above that pic with $1.8M.

After seeing Let There Be Carnage DOM numbers I think if walk-up is strong could blow up a $7M+ opening next weekend.
charlie Jatinder
Did CoVID came back? The market surprised with $6M for GvK, legged to $20M, now even $7M Venom 2 will be bigger than anything in months.

I think the mindset right now is "If it's not big enough is not worth the risk or spent" Both BW and SC were always poised to be just some others Ant-Man and hype simply dried out; Eternals another GOTG but could do better than the two previously mentioned. Bond has never meant much here and Dune is sci-fi which always struggles. Edited October 3, 2021 by Carlangonz
