@ChipDerby Hey, you're gonna run into some issues with Avatar on this week's derby. It's getting pulled from all US theaters come Friday. No theaters in NY, LA, etc. are booked to play it once Thursday ends. I don't think Disney will report anything for it.

Yeeaaaa I just checked a bunch in other areas and it looks like it's gone across the board. I mean, there may be some stragglers left but it's gonna drop 98% this weekend if it even reports.

I propose that we just set everyone’s guesses+the actual to like 0.01 but if people want to treat it as real on the off chance it keeps 2 indies reports like $20,356 or something I can roll with it.

The Numbers don’t show it in any theaters.

 

@katnisscinnaplex Could you run a check and see if Avatar is playing in any theaters this weekend?

For what it's worth, a friend of mine did some seeking and found that zero AMCs are playing it this weekend. Zero Marcus theaters playing it this weekend too. I've only found one or two stragglers so far at random non-chain theaters, and I'm starting to suspect they booked it in error. Kinda odd to pull a re-release out of theaters like this when it's still making some money, no real reasoning when I don't think it costs all that much extra to keep playing it, especially when they already spent the P&A cash on it.

It was billed as a limited engagement, and though they did extend a week, seems the plan was always for a mass pull, though I thought they would do it next week. $.01 it is

No official word yet that I can see from admins — but no one has spoken up on favor of actually playing Avatar and the post where I recommend that all guesses+actual be set to .01 has a few likes, so I’m just leaving mine blank.

My nonsubmit apparently registered as a 0.00 when I thought it would be .01, saw someone else in the same boat. I assume it’s all getting washed away by act of god though

Well that sucks.

 

I will find a solution by Tuesday. I'm thinking the easiest option would be to give everyone a 0% so it's all equal, but I'm not sure if there is another option.

It’s possible to give everyone a 0, everyone a 100, or everyone like a 79 if you wanted to, right? Could set everyone’s guess to .79 and the “actual” to 1. Maybe the beat approach in terms of not disrupting comparative historical stats for the wknd is to give everyone an avatar score = to the avg score for the other 9 movies this wknd? But if that’s comparatively a hassle on the backend all 0 or all 100 seem fine — very unlikely to report.
