Y9 Academy Awards Ceremony!!

Please welcome to the stage, Jimmy Tatro!

Jimmy Tatro: You know, before I begin here I gotta say... I don't know what movie Andrew is talking about but that title, "Make You Care..." reminds me of some other movie... but I can't remember the title of that one. *audience laughs* Anyway, last year, this was the greatest night of my life. Let's see if I can pay it forward. Here are the nominees for Best Supporting Actress.

Jessie Buckley, The Queen Who Never Was

Cut to Saera sitting in a plain room, not a prisoner, but not free. Her parents enter and Jaehaerys simply asks “what have you done? By the gods, what have you done?” Saera replies “I did what, if a man did, he would be congratulated for in private by his fellow lords. My husband injured my honor every day, so I preserved what little dignity I had by choosing men who were not ashamed of my company.” Alysanne remains silent as Jaehaerys gets incensed for the harms that have stemmed from her actions. “You could have endured it all as a proper lady should, but instead your husband and your sister lie dead, and more death will follow.” Saera simply responds “Viserra I regret with all my heart, and I would change it if I could. As for my husband, you forced me to marry him, knowing he had no care for me. His blood is on your hands as well.” Jaehaerys for a second looks like he might hit Saera, but Alysanne puts a hand on his arm. Instead, he simply says “you are not my daughter” and walks out of the room. Alysanne exchanges a look with Saera, with slight empathy, and then follows her husband out.

Kirsten Dunst, The Next Good Day

Levi: Seven.

Delaney: Jesus… (hisses) then what happened to your hands?
Levi: The break healed just fine. It was…  later on. Focal dysphonia. Makes us twitch, cramp up. It cost a lot of pianists their careers.
Delaney: So you quit playing?
Levi: (furious) I never quit!

Delaney is shocked, but then lets out a small laugh, covering her mouth as to not look rude. Levi is confused.

Levi: What?
Delaney: (laughing) You just said “I”.
Levi: No, we…
Delaney: You did! You totally just said "I"!

Eva Green, The Mirage

Old Ruth: I’ve known you for a long, long time, Ralph. I’ve seen you in all these ages, wearing all these skins and creeds, and suits and gowns and—
Ralph: Can it. The only me you’ve seen is the ‘me’ sitting here. That’s a fact.

Old Ruth storms to her feet. Ralph finally considers what she said, and he looks bewildered.

Old Ruth: The hell you think you’re speakin’ with?

She saunters to the door.

Old Ruth: I was nothin’ but nice and you pinched my last nerve. Tell you what. You ain’t gettin’ out. We’re makin’ sure of that.

Brittany Snow, The Crummy Shindig

"Marilyn" continues with her going into the town center, showing ravishing solo dancing to everyone willing to watch.

Emma Thompson, The Queen Who Never Was

Alysanne is distraught at Saera’s fall from being a princess, and tells her husband “we have made our daughter a whore” and Jaehaerys, after a few seconds replies coldly “she always was one.” Alysanne begs Jaehaerys to send word to Saera that she is forgiven, that she is free to come home, and Jaehaerys refuses. He says Saera shamed their family, opened her legs for whomever wished, and now debases herself to anyone with coin. “She has chosen her life. She is dead to me. Consider her dead to you as well.” With that, Alysanne quietly gets up and says “Then I shall go and mourn my dead daughters. You have no need of me here.” And she leaves, goes to her own dragon, and flies away from King’s Landing.

Tatro: And the winner is...

JESSIE BUCKLEY, THE QUEEN WHO NEVER WAS!

Jessie Buckley: Oh my - Jimmy, you did pay it forward. This is also the best night of my life! I thought this was going to go to Emma! Emma, I love you I can't CENSORing believe I won this! Oh I gotta thank people, shit! Uh, Michelle, a fabulous director, I wouldn't been able to get to where I was able to go without her. Peter and George, for creating such a great role in Saera. You guys, for giving me this great great honor. Wow! I'll meet Kenny backstage. Thank you again!

Please welcome to the stage, Zendaya!

Zendaya: I've played many roles I love over my honestly pretty short career so far, but the one I get the funniest questions about is the one where people are like "I know your voice from somewhere... but what?" This is not a kiddy award; voice-acting is so important, and these are the performances that led some of the biggest and emotionally gut-wrenching movies of last year. Here are the nominees for Best Voice Actor or Actress in a Leading Role.

Bill Hader, Invader Zim

GIR screams “Hooray for Earth!”, but Zim reminds him that Earth is the enemy. GIR says he understands, but he likes squirrels. Zim is outraged - claiming that the idea that a clearly superior alien species felled by something as pathetic as “germs” is sheer fantasy, and no one could ever believe that. He then starts laughing maniacally. GIR follows him. Zim stops laughing, and GIR continues to laugh, for no real reason.

Ashley Johnson, Heremias

Marcus and Myria are flying on the Pegasus, Myria pointing out some sights, when they spy an altercation with Stone Men and some people, and flying low, Marcus sees it is Selena and Catherine and says they need to land. They do and Myria tells the Stone Men to stand down as Marcus runs to Selena and hugs her, surprised she’s already here. Selena says it took some finagling, the others are going to Kadranas to scout things out. She hands the bag of things Kristos had to Myria, who says it’ll be put to good use. Marcus tells Selena he is making progress learning about who he is, what he can do, he’d love to show her the place, but Myria interjects to say it is forbidden to outsiders. Selena is glad Marcus is finding himself, but says they need to stop Lavendra before she can cause mass destruction, and asks Marcus to come with her and Catherine. Marcus says he will help, but he has to finish this. There’s a brief silent tension until Selena says ok, “do what you have to do. We’ll be going to Kadranas.

George McKay, Tongue Tied

Chrom: That first day, just surviving as a frog… That was hard. I’ll admit I was frightened. But now that people are looking for me… (snags another fly) …Aah! Now I’m not so worried!
Merlin: Milord… Shouldn’t you refrain from eating flies? You’re the prince, after all.
Chrom: (snags another one) You should try eating flies sometime! They’re delicious!

Anika Noni Rose, Matilda and the Night Children

Matilda then tucks in the Night Children, singing them a song to help them sleep. The song, Lovely Spirits, about the wonders of what could be next after life ends but how one’s presence is always felt, be it loved ones, friends, or the world, to ease their minds and raise their spirits which the Night Children join in on before falling asleep. Needles sleepily thanks Matilda for everything as Matilda says good night. Needles, half-asleep, says, “Goodnight, Mom,” making Matilda smile.

Lakeith Stanfield, Heremias

There’s an awkward silence before Myria lets go of the paw, which is returning into being a hand, and she apologizes about the spring. “It’s been just my mother and I for so long, I just didn’t know what it’d be like spending time with you. I’m sorry.” Marcus accepts the apology and says he does like her, “but I love Selena. And if you got to know her, you’d like her to. She wants the same thing I do, peace.” Myria says maybe, she just finds it hard to trust any human.

Zendaya: And the Oscar goes to...

ANIKA NONI ROSE, MATILDA AND THE NIGHT CHILDREN!

Anika Noni Rose: Thank you so much, I have to go get ready to perform but I'll give a full thank you speech later in the press! Bye!!

Please welcome to the stage Bryan Cranston and Bob Odenkirk!

Bryan Cranston: Can you imagine how difficult it would be to edit Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul down into a three hour movie?

Cranston: The other noms are no slouch too.

Odenkirk: Here are the nominees for Best Film Editing...

American Spy

The Mirage

The Queen Who Never Was

Red Rabbit

Warmth

Cranston: And the Oscar goes to...

AMERICAN SPY!

Spencer Averick: Thank you so much to the Academy for the honor of winning Best Film Editing. Please welcome to the stage Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt!

Wyatt Russell: Come on. I have an Oscar nom now.

Kurt Russell: You're not proud to be my son?

Wyatt: I didn't say that. I just want to be introduced as my own person.

Kurt: You know, I didn't want you to be an actor. A carpenter would've been a fine job.

Wyatt: Well, if I had become a carpenter, I could've seen me going into Production Design. Speaking of which, here are the nominees for Best Production Design:

The Crummy Shindig

Land of the Crescent

The Mirage

The Queen Who Never Was

Tongue Tied

You can go ahead and open the envelope, Dad.

Kurt: I'm going to, okay? I just didn't want to step on your moment.

Wyatt: Oh. Thanks!

Kurt: You're welcome. And the Oscar goes to...

THE QUEEN WHO NEVER WAS!

Recipient: The funnest thing to design in movies is castles. I liked working on this movie. Thanks!

Please welcome to the stage Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel Zegler!

Jake Gyllenhaal: We both really like music.

Rachel Zegler: You think you can get me a part in Olive 3?

Gyllenhaal:  Ask Zendaya, she's around here somewhere.

Zegler: We're here to present the music awards.

Gyllenhaal: Music is what makes movie soar. Even before sound, music was required to enjoy the best of those classic comedies.

Zegler: Here are the nominees for Best Original Score.

Justin Bell, Heremias

Ramin Djawadi, The Queen Who Never Was

Lisa Gerrard and Hans Zimmer, Vixen and the Castle of Doom

Daniel Hart, The Mirage

Jung Jae-il, Warmth

Gyllenhaal: And the Oscar goes to...

RAMIN DJAWADI, THE QUEEN WHO NEVER WAS!

Ramin Djawadi: I was so relieved when I was called for this project. I was honestly worried they'd replace me with Hans Zimmer since this is a big damn movie score. Thank you Hans for being busy with the fox movie! *audience laughs* Westeros has been a big part of my career for so long that I was glad to expand it to the big screen in such a musically intricate way. Thank you for this, it means quite a lot to me.

Spoiler

Anika: Thank you so much for this honor. What drew me to Matilda was that it was a black story about motherhood in addition to being about what makes a kid good. Matilda is such a lovely character with a big heart, fearless attitude and a hard worker which is what every great mom is. Originally, a kid Xavier was supposed to be the lead with him growing with the Night Children but Corbin wasn't satisfied with the story and Xavier B. Irving suggested from the storyboards, that Matilda is the heart of the movie, why can't she be the lead. The two pitched it to me and my eyes immediately lit up. I'm grateful for the opportunity to voicing Matilda as well as having be deemed good enough to go toe to toe with the other nominees this year.

Zegler: You've heard all these songs already.

Gyllenhaal: They all sounded pretty dang good.

Zegler: You wanna go over them again, for the audience at home?

Gyllenhaal: Sure, that seems like a good idea. Here are the nominees for Best Original Song:

"Fun, Fun, Fun," Invader Zim

"Lovely Spirits," Matilda and the Night Children

"Make It Happen," The Crummy Shindig

"Making You Care," Runaway Train

"Who's That Dame," The Crummy Shindig

Zegler: And the Oscar goes to...

"MAKING YOU CARE," RUNAWAY TRAIN!

Dave Pirner: Thank you so much to the Academy for the honor of winning Best Original Song. We worked hard for the opportunity and privilege, and we are so thankful to everyone who collaborated with the film, everyone who supported it in theaters and home and everyone who believes it is deserving of this award. Thank you so much!

Please welcome to the stage Michael B. Jordan!

Michael B. Jordan: The best directors don't only work in the narrative space. Masters like Peter Jackson, Martin Scorsese and Spike Lee can be just as defined by their work in the documentary form as their more famous films. Here are the nominees for Best Documentary Feature.

AeroMobil: The Future is Now

Heart of the Amazon

War on Drugs: America's Modern Conflict

And the Oscar goes to...

WAR ON DRUGS: AMERICA'S MODERN CONFLICT!

Lyric Cabral: Thank you so much to the Academy for this honor, and to Spike Lee for allowing me the opportunity to tell this story. This is a film that still feels all too close and all too real, and it’s crazy and sick and screwed up that we find ourselves reproducing the same phrases over again - our country is not equal to every single one of us. We cannot let Black people continue to suffer for generations on end for the gains and interests of rich White people. Never again. Black Lives Matter. Thank you to everyone for this wonderful honor!

Adam Driver: Here you go.

Tessa Thompson: This is Plus Two.

Driver: This is canon!

Red Rabbit

Vixen and the Castle of Doom

Driver: And the Oscar goes to...

THE QUEEN WHO NEVER WAS!

Peter Morgan: I can't say I'm surprised by this, but I can still be grateful for it. What an experience to be able to work in this world. I loved it, and this award means very little to me compared to the joy I had working on this film. Thank you anyway.

Jack Black: We know it's getting late!

Kristen Wiig: We're getting tired!

Black: But if there's one thing Kristen and I love doing...

Wiig: It's random voice roles in any animated movie.

Black: But there's only one Best Animated Feature every year.

Wiig: Here are the nominees.

Heremias
