Rsyu
Okay so just out from my viewing of "train to busan" and I'm pretty certain this will reach 10M admissions. It had pretty much everything you'd want in a summer blockbuster film and surprisingly enough, had several tender moments too (depending on how sentimental you are :p). I think there's a great chance it could be the monster hit of the year. Really loved Gong-yoo's acting in this too and feel this will be his long awaited hit film.

Pretty much it does have some issues such as the story plot line being a little generic (standard zombie apocalypse fare) and the conclusion is a tad unsatisfactory but it's a great deal of fun which I think will appeal to audiences. But being a big Gong-yoo fan, I'm probably a little biased in my assessment As for Dory, I wouldn't be surprised if it holds better against TTB than other holdovers, kinda similar to how HTTYD2 held against RC. 3M is still in contention I think or something close to it. bartonfink
Train to Busan was quite a disappointment. I expected it's a somewhat generic blockbuster, but I didn't expect it's a lifelessly generic like this. Actually it embodies all the flaws of Korean tentpole films for several years. Merely functional and bland characters, clumsy and expository dialogues, wooden or exaggerated performances, horribly corny sentimentalism etc. Even it rarely has some inventive or energetic action scenes. Of course it has some merits. We can appreciate Yeon Sang Ho's critical look at inhumane characteristics in Korean society which mislead public opinion and ostracize the weak and refuse the solidarity. But that's all. I don't have a problem with typicality of summer blockbusters. But it doesn't have to be unsophisticated, literal-minded, banal like the film. I just hope his next feature Seoul Station is keen and daring like his previous works.

Rsyu
There's a lot of controversy currently surrounding Train to Busan. Apparently a certain number of people who watched the it in the previews have taken to the SNS and posted spoilers everywhere. not sure how this will impact the box office but it's still adding an unnecessary element lf confusion that probably could have been avoided had there not been wide previews..
