CheeseWizard
What’re pre-sales in China looking like for things like Wild Robot, Beetlejuice and Transformers? Apparently the last one lands around national day.

Apparently the last one lands around national day. Pre-sales don't start usually until a week or so before release so the only thing you'll get are third party projections based on perceived interest. Beetlejuice also isn't getting a release there as far as I know, they may have lightened up on the violent films on imports this year but there's no lightening up on ghosts.

I found this on Reddit so idk if it’s reliable but it’s something to go off of at least. Not much but still. Apparnetly it’s putting wild robot at between 2 and 8 million, though no sign of Beetlejuice, and no projections for transformers one. Though TFOne does seem to be the only one landing on Friday, though Idk how Chinese national day works and why a load of seemingly big movies are releasing on Monday instead of Friday. Transformers One just got added to the schedule recently so it not having projections yet makes sense. The holiday falls on a Tuesday this year that's really it. It's October 1st and then it's a big holiday week usually whenever the day falls so it's starting on the Friday this year it seems. Most movies get various release days but I usually see Friday or Saturday unless it's a holiday.
rockiron99
There's rumor that "Smile 2" will get a release in China. And also rumor says that "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" doesn't get approval from the National Film Bureau. It's probably due to the rules that no superstitious ideas and concepts (including the presence of ghosts) are allowed in a film.

Local department of propaganda is always sensitive about ghosts. Coco is a rare exception.

CheeseWizard
Transformers One had pre-screenings today and grossed around $660k. It will continue to have pre-screenings for the next 2 days through the Holidays. The Wild Robot had pre-screenings today and grossed around $155k. It will also continue to have pre-screenings for the next 2 days through the Holidays. so is this good?
