efialtes76
WTF?! RE5 beating Taken?!What's the surprise?RE4 opened with €2.6m and Taken wasn't a big hit in Spain!
CJohn
That isn't an excuse at all, IMO. Taken was a small release here nobody saw and the sequel is a beast. And RE5 dropped 40% from RE4. Edited October 6, 2012 by CJohn

And RE5 dropped 40% from RE4. So what if Retribution dropped 40% in Portugal? Spain's a way bigger market. Just because it decreased in Portugal, doesn't mean it won't do well in Spain. Taken made $5,464,669 in Spain, whereas Afterlife made $7,800,947. Plus, the bad reviews of Taken 2 and the fact it doesn't look as good as the original may add to it not opening to #1. CJohn
It wasn't just Portugal. RE5 decreased almost everywhere, while Taken 2 saw some massive increases. This is why I am shocked with these results. Edited October 6, 2012 by CJohn
StephenN18
Actually, no it didn't decrease almost everywhere. It had higher openings in all but one Asian country, and topped the openings of Afterlife in all Latin American countries.

RE4 did 3.3 million and Taken 1.2. We have to wait to see numbers, but the gap between boyh can be big.
peludo
Cheers Olive, but I was looking for an admissions total.I do not have exactly number for last weekend, but as of Sunday 23, TE2 had sold 834,832 admissions. With last weekend numbers it will have risen to maybe 845,000 or 850,000 admissions

We have to wait to see numbers, but the gap between boyh can be big. That still isn't a justification since you just have to look at other European countries to see even bigger differences. You guys just love RE more than anyone Edited October 7, 2012 by CJohn
