I think Planes is just a 91 minutes commercial for Toys!   It was no fun! And so charmless! Just like The Smurfs 2!

I doubt this will get a lot of reviews. Not many people will go to see this movie.

The animation in Planes is polished despite the lower budget compared to major animated tentpoles. The scenes in the air are breathtaking and it also successfully captured the intensity of races.

The story however is just average. It's a story that has been told several times before. It just another one about a misfit who wants to beat the odds. There's nothing wrong with that per se but the storytelling is just too plain. It's good enough for young kids though but in this age where we have seen several animated movies that go beyond being just kids entertainment, Planes felt flat.The characters were just OK but Dusty is not as lovable as he should be. A lot of jokes also didn't work especially the ones that were aimed to adults.

While Planes did not exactly soar to greater heights, the movie is still a competent production that kids will love
