Looks rally sappy. I'm 25 and I remember watching Mr Roger neighbourhood when I was really young but I don't know if I'm as emotionally connected to it as some older people are. Will still check it out.

oh yeah I'm def glad thy cast Simu I'm just repeating what's being said on Chinese message boards about the casting. To be fair Africans really loved Black Panther as well it's just the box-office isn't really calculated in most African countries for some reason. Black Panther was the highest grossing movie by a lot in South Africa.

Apparently Chinese message board aren't fans of the casting. Apparently they are't attractive enough or something. And they are also mad the villain is Chinese Chinese while the hero is Western Chinese lmao. So yeah...I won't be surprised if this isn't huge in China (obviously it will still do well since it's Marvel) I kinda thought Marvel would cast a mainland china actor.

Yeah I honestly doubt it's a major character. Even with Thor 4 I doubt they will go into Valkyrie's sexuality that much. To be fair though most Marvel romances are pretty chaste to begin with but Disney is aways hyping LGBT rep in their movies with barely anything to show for it.

Don lee was my favourite character in Train to Busan so happy with his casting. I didn’t know he could speak English. It’s interesting that they cast older actors in this.

I think the gay character rumours were false for this. They are making such a big deal about Valkyrie being queer but this is coming out before Thor 4. Not that I wouldn't like it but I really doubt Marvel would make the only white male lead character gay in their unknown property. Knowing Marvel his character will probably have a romance with Jolie or Ridlof's characters.

Yeah I'm wondering this too. FOTB is a 20+ episode show and her character is a lead so I don't think there's really a way to work around it if they conflict. I really want to know the role she had to turn down lmao.

Interesting many of the characters were gender swapped. Marvel is serious about female representation. I know nothing about Eternals but I'm happy with the diverse cast lol.

but some of the animation looks similar to Kimba that it em likely it was used in reference. I can believe they came up with the idea by themselves but they obviously used Tezuka's work as reference for some scenes.

Yeah I'm kinda tired of people viewing Disney as some evil empire for making live action remakes when they make so much money. Like why wouldn't they make them? THere's obviously an audience for them because people are seeing them. however I do think Disney should have spread them out a little bit. 3 in the span of a few month is ridiculous lol.

but several other characters have swahili names in Lion King. I find it believable they wanted to name their main character after the Swahili word for Lion. I'm not saying they weren't inspired by Tezuka's work at all but idk if they saw the name Kimba and were like "let's change it to an S" I think it's more likely they came up with basis of the idea themselves but they didn't have that much experience with animation and animals/lions so animators use Tezuka's work for reference which why some of it looks so similar. l

yah obviously I know Kimba came first but Disney claims that the name Simba coms from the swahili word for lion which makes sense considering other characters hav swahili names and rafiki even has a swhaili chant he says. Simba literally means lion. But like is it just a coincidence the name is so similar to Kimba? Is Kimba also derived from the word "Simba?" I'm just curious

It's weird that the names Kimba and Simba are so similar when Simba is swahili for Lion. Did Tezuka get the name Kimba from Simba and just change the S to an K lol?

but the family member is not the one that killed the father. T'challa was not reluctant to take the throne He assumed it as soon as he got back to Wakanda. Erik assumed the throne by "killing" T'challa in ritual battle not by tricking the kingdom into thinking the king and his son were accidently killed. they are so different. Lion King is a retelling of Hamlet. Black Panther is about a guy, who's father was murdered by his uncle, who grew resentful of a family he never knew and returned to exact his revenge.

I don't understand this joke about Black Panther being a Lion King movie. Where did this come from? Any similarities are very superficial. "They both have Kings and take place in Africa"
