  1. I was a bit concerned that neither Billie or Beyonce had been confirmed to perform. I guess they aren't that incompetent.
  2. It's especially weird because She is in Snow White which is Disney AND it's on ABC. I also find it hard to believe Spielberg has no pull to get the star of his musical a ticket if he really wanted to. It's very strange.
  3. I am so surprised that with their "chasing of younger audiences" They didn't announce actual ACTORS popular among young people. Like announce a Spider-man reunion??? Have Andrew Garfield perform a song from Tick Tick Boom? Is Timothee Chalamet busy? Zendaya? The Rock? Ryan Reynolds?? Heck even announcing the Squid Game cast makes more sense than a lot of these desperate announcements. Also did they ask Billie Eillish and Beyonce to perform? Maybe they tried and they all said no lol. I'm surprised the Williams sisters, who would actually make sense to present weren't announced. What they're doing is turning off a lot of their core audience.
  4. I'm sorry I didn't finish reading this but there is absolutely no reason the lead actress of a movie with 7 nominations should be overlook for a ticket lol. And it's Disney not WB.
  5. LOL the people who run the oscars have no idea what they are doing. And they didn't invite Rachel Zegler lmao? It's weird how none of the stars of the films nominated for best pictures are presenters but so many random people are.
  6. lmao nobody saw it for Mark Wahlberg. Everybody I know who saw it saw it for Tom. Maybe it's just my age group though. But Tom post NWH I think was a big draw lol.
  7. uncharted opened to 50 million. With mediocre reviews and with the core fanbase hating it.
  8. exactly. Most actors barely post on social media. Of course they won't have a huge following. A lot of tiktok stars are flash in the pans with a life span of 2-3 years. Actors like Dwayne Johnson who are actually social media savvy have like 278 million followers Even then, if you look at the young actors that are popular among Gen Z, they have a decent amount of followers. Zendaya - 134 million Tom Holland - 64.7 million Timothee Chalamet - 17.3 million Florence Pugh - 7.1 milliion Anya Taylor Joy 8.7 million Sure the top tiktokers have more followers than then, but I would argue that the actors' fame is more sustainable then a lot of tiktokers and streamers. There are tiktokers that were huge 2 years ago are practically irrelevant now.
  9. Maybe wait until Elvis is released and Austin Butler is officially cast in Dune before you call him "Tier 3 famous" lmao.
  10. over saturation definitely plays a big part in the lack of huge stars for sure. A million different shows and movies to stream, youtube videos to watch and tiktok videos make it hard for there to be a "star" necessarily. However like I said, I do think the people I mentioned above have potential to be big stars due to their popularity with Gen Z. Whether that potential is realized, idk. As for Stranger Things kids. They are still young. A lot of child actors don't transition well to adult roles, especially if they aren't traditionally movie star attractive. We'll have to wait and see on them. I hear a lot about Millie Bobby Brown stiill.
  11. Ok forget I mentioned them. Timothee Chalamet Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor Joy, Saoirse Ronan and Tom Holland have potential to be big stars among Gen Z lmao.
  12. *old man screams at cloud*. The majority of tiktok stars will not last longer than a year. You can relax. A lot of the ones that were big 2 years ago are irrelevant now.
  13. I have my own issues with Jacob Elordi but that's mostly due to his fame-whory ways and his dating life. His performance is good and he has a "movie star hunk" appearance. Whether he is the next best thing, idk.
  14. I'm talking about people popular among gen Z lol. I'm not comparing acting talent, of which Saoirse is clearly superior. I see a lot of people talk about Sydney Sweeney (who Sony just cast in their film) and Alexa Demie lmao. And Jacob Elordi's team is really trying to make him happen 🤣. Yeah most likely they might not have staying power but one could break out lmao.
  15. Now that Hollywood has sort of adjusted to streaming/social media and gen Z begins to drive movie sales, I can actually see some "movie stars" emerge. Timothee Chalamet is popular among gen Z and is set to be in Dune and Wonka next year, which should help him blow up even more. Then there's people like Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor Joy, Saoirse Ronan, the Euphoria people. Tom Holland is one that is popular among Gen Z as well. We'll see if they have any staying power though.
  16. Such a bad business decision. It made sense during the height of the pandemic but legit no one is staying away from the theater because of fear of COVID anymore. I live in Ontario, one of the strictest places in the world for COVID restrictions and we're basically about to get rid of all the mandates. Studios need to stop sending their movies directly to streaming.
  17. TH is probably going to try and negotiate a huge contract with Sony for SM after Uncharted's success.
  18. lmao I legit minored in American History in college.I'm very confident in my knowledge of history. I just didn't feel like arguing with someone who probably wasn't going to change their mind and cluttering up this thread. DM me if you care that much, I'll happily debate you there. But yes, moving on to the next thing lol. And so you admit you've only seen Get Out??
  19. yeah I think more studios should be sending their movies to theaters instead of streaming. People are clearly going to the movies more and holdovers are doing so well because there's not much to see. I'm just so paranoid about the death of movie theaters. I've legit had anxiety about this lol.
  20. Exactly, I don't know how people expect all the convo to be light and fluffy when this is literally a movie about the fucking atomic bomb, the most controversial and heavily debated military decision in recent history lol. I'm looking forward to the movie but it's not like we know anything about the plot to discuss lol.
  21. They took DAYS to surrender? God forbid lol. Like, even Dwight Eisenhower thought Japan was already defeated and that the bomb was not necessary. Russia was also about to invade. They would have surrendered. Even before the bomb was dropped Japanese leaders were trying to negotiate on a conditional surrender but Americans were hostile to the idea of conditional surrender. Funny enough the term of the conditional surrender were extremely similar to the terms of the unconditional surrender after the bombs anyway lmao. They could have easily carried out a naval blockade or used the bomb in an unpopulated area if they wanted force an unconditional surrender so bad. I'm not even a Japanese apologist because they have a lot they still haven't atoned for in WW2. And like I said before there were some benefits to the use of the bomb, namely preventing future large scale war, but America was shitty to do what they did and it was mostly just a power move lol.
