  1. I knew about this for a month. There are rumors about the film going around saying it’s god awful. Everytime that I come here and people keep talking about how great it will do at the box office feels like I just arrived at a parallel timeline or something.
  2. Literal the same can be said about any giving film. I’m going because I’m a Marvel Studios fan die hard and I love all the characters, especially Kamala Khan, but what I think this film has going for it when it comes to the average moviegoer is oddly enough 1) the online incel backlash that has kept the film in conversation more than any film from the superhero genre this year, 2) the short runtime and 3) the release date. I sincerely don’t know what the public reception for The Marvels is going to be, but I do think that the online backlash against it makes people that would otherwise not be that interested in the film curious about it. And in that, that’s actually not that different than people’s perception of Barbie before it was out and we were sure that it was a great film. Online misguided hate towards a MCU film that is lead by three women and directed by another woman might, in fact, make people want to check The Marvels. Just like you could make a case for an Scorsese film that people support because ‘absolute cinema’ or whatever.
  3. I got tickets for the midnight imax screening in Porto Alegre and those are all gone, but very few tickets other than the IMAX screenings are selling so far. TBH, that’s not that unusual here. Let’s see how it goes.
  4. Yeah, but I’m kinda tired of the news cycle around Joanna Robinson’s book soundbites. First it was about Marvel thinking they had a good film with Quantumania - like no shit Sherlock, with the insane amount of test screenings these films go through, we’re anyone expecting Marvel Studios thought that that film was trash? Come on now - and now this. It just reeks of slow news days with the strikes going on and fan sites scrapping though all sources possible to find something to generate clicks. We don’t know about the future of Brie Larson in the MCU as much as we knew about RDJ’s or Chris Evans’ before Endgame. I doubt that she won’t be around for a good while though.
  5. Oh, if they delay more stuff it won’t be because of this weekend, it’s just that even the next year’s release schedule is becoming a mess. It’s a domino effect. I definitely can see more stuff getting delayed.
  6. They should use Halloween to subvert and bring attention to the strike. Instead, they are coming off as a bunch of unfun dorks.
  7. There is no way in hell that The Marvels moves. I do think Cmasterclay has a point though. I just don’t see Aquaman 2 been delayed because it’s been sent to die.
  8. Wait a minute, yeah you are onto something. This actually makes sense.
  9. They must be starving for whatever content with the strikes going on. Doubt it’s true.
  10. I’m seeing movement for the midnight premieres, but not really much for the rest of the days. It’s normal when it comes to blockbuster films and it’s barely out so yeah, take that as you will. Also, saw that dude that keeps getting trailers announcements before it’s out claiming some blurbs from Marvels reviews, but I’d take that with a grain of salt.
  11. Being uncool won’t get SAG-AFTRA more people on their side. This is a ridiculous self-own. Let people wear whatever the fuck they want at Halloween.
  12. Okay this is weird. If it was released via press kit we would have confirmation of this by now. In the other hand, we have this: https://x.com/colliderfrosty/status/1715075008907882690?s=61&t=IxAPf6aOIGwNVv2fD812oQ My point is, we are not even sure if Deadpool 3 is moving, despite Deadline’s report.
  13. I’m agreeing with Sneider on something. Yeah, this is ridiculous. https://x.com/theinsneider/status/1715076145778176497?s=61&t=IxAPf6aOIGwNVv2fD812oQ
  14. Grabbed my tickets for Marvels, it just opened here in Brazil. I’m seeing movement for the midnight sessions, but not really that much for the other days.
  15. Yeah, they don’t have much confidence in the film, therefore they are angling for one of the most coveted movie theater’s dates.
  16. Nothing is new in the front. We will have ‘Marvel is dead’ after Deadpool 3 and the Avengers films blow up the box office again because that’s a talking point that it’s around just as long as Marvel Studios films are around.
  17. I’m still thinking it breaks $100m OW in the US, despite what we are seeing on tracking. It’s been just too long without a Marvel Studios or an actual blockbuster film.
  18. Bought myself and my friends 5 tickets for Marvels, and one by myself for IMAX. Tickets are now on sale here in Brazil.
  19. I think people sometimes have a very hard time understanding what male ‘skewed’ means, when it comes to a film like Captain Marvel. More than the point that you’re mentioning about having a slightly bigger female audience than the usual, I think it’s easy to forget that the portion of Captain Marvel’s OW that was female represented around $69m from the $153m total. That’s nothing to sneeze at, even when we compare to Wonder Woman, that skewed slightly more female (for an around 100m OW iirc). Sometimes it feels like people seem to think that just because Marvel’s audience skews male, the female audience isn’t there. Also, like Shawn has pointed out, the very fact that Captain Marvel was linked to Infinity War and Endgame could lead to yet more of a male skewed audience. I think the biggest enemy against The Marvels isn’t really ‘superhero fatigue’, but an eventual lack of promotion by the stars. If it gets that plus good wom, it still has potential of doing good box office numbers.
  20. I’m hearing from people that actually would know this stuff that Marvel Studios is prepping to resume operations in two weeks. So maybe the trades are on to something.
  21. Whatever ounce of empathy that I could have for Heard it’s gone. Musk, Grimes and Heard can all fuck off for all I care. And people downplaying this as a hit piece for a fucking DC film or WB or whatever are missing the point. We are talking about people that think that can buy their way through anything and have at very least very debatable world views. Fuck them, fuck them all. I just don’t care anymore. Get Momoa to DC Universe and burn everything else. I’m never watching this.
