Quick Guesstimates MU = 46.3 14.1 18.2 14.0 WWZ = 29.4 9.0 11.6 8.8 MoS = 19.3 5.9 7.7 5.7 P.S. Decided to check out which Pixar film closely matches MU but something else caught my eye. http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=toystory2.htm Never really looked at Toy Story 2 until now, and wow those are some giant spikes!

Think Lone Ranger will do well in theaters. My local Barnes and Nobles have dress up days and I've already seen at least 2 kids dressed up as either Lone Ranger or Tonto and the films not even out yet. Plus I think the marketing is real good. Everywhere I go is Lone Ranger poster here and there, TV commercials everywhere. A lot of people I know are going to see it next wknd - their fans of the POTC films.

Forgot to compensate for the 4th of July weekend so the 3rd wkdy #s could be more like $12 - $13 mill? So it's going to be really close for MOS then. No more than $303 mill dom probably highest?

Remember reading some article last year about 20 or maybe even 22% out of a 1,000 people surveyed actually depend on movie reviews and will pay to see, or not pay to see a film depending on how good/bad it's reviews are. It's not the best stat but if we can get some ticket counts... we could possibly est what a certain movie could have made if it had better reviews...maybe?

Zod didn't really bother me, except when he... Also didn't care much for Fiora and her constant preaching and nagging to Superman during their fights. I think the all-over-the-place pacing and the plot holes like the spoiler above, especially the more OBVIOUS ones in MoS that even my 13 year old cousin noticed: ... were the problems in our viewing.

$20M for MOS on Saturday would still be possible if it had a $14-$15M Friday. MOS's 71% drop mimics Green Lantern's 72% drop basically the same date in 2011. The way this pans out for MOS... estimating $16M Saturday at best (27% increase), and $13M Sunday. Basically around $42-44M for the 2nd weekend.

Just saw "Monsters University". 8/10. Makes you appreicate the original "Monsters Inc." even more. Simply adored the first 15 mins of the film. Loved the ending twist for THE ending. By the way, STAY AFTER THE END CREDITS too. P.S. Same theater from last night, was about full capacity, maybe even sold out, and seated 350-370.

Wow... I know Nikki's a WB gal and all and probably has her feelings a lil hurt, but still, why did she have to trash WWZ like that after it had taken the #2 spot from MOS? Her last Friday update said MOS (her est $19M) and WWZ (her est $20M) would be in a neck and neck race but we all know it wasn't even close, but to trash WWZ and Paramount on her latest update... Nikki, Nikki. http://www.deadline.com/2013/06/world-war-z-begins-international-roll-out-strongly-in-australia-korea/ ...oh Nikki Finke.

We just got back from "Man of Steel". 6.5 / 10. It's not a good film - it's an entertaining movie, kind of like how I would say "Transformers" or "Iron Man 2" was. If I was 15-16 years old, I'd probably wouldn't care and liked it just for the action/explosions, but even that was too busy. Pacing was just all over the place with so many obvious plot holes like: Henry Cavill though was a good successor to Christopher Reeve. He had that Tom Welling look too! Superman is still my favorite superhero, but this movie, MOS, just could've been better, rather than just full of action. My 13 year old cousin liked it, my 8 year old nephew fell asleep. My theater was about maybe 75% full with a 370 capacity, we went to the 8 pm showing. There were a few applause after the film, but then some guy behind me started booing which got some people to the front laughing and some joined in on the booing. P.S. Pacific Rim trailer was sweet! Love Godzilla, so I'll be checking this out.
