  1. The spin has begun. Anyone else ever read about this $325M prediction number in the 500 posts IJack has made?
  2. Uh oh, sounds like someone made a big mistake, and Sony is going to make them pay for it.
  3. Not a disaster and not a great success. Just a boring number. And I think that's where this movie is headed.
  4. I think we know how this is going to play out. TASM is a boring movie in every way. It has no buzz and there is no excitement about it. The reviews are lukewarm (the positive aren't really positive and the negative aren't really negative). Therefore, this movie will take the most boring route possible. It will not fail spectacularly and it will not break out. This movie will probably end up coming in under my $300M prediction and make $250M. Why $250M? Because that would be the most boring number because then neither side can claim victory. There will be no epic meltdowns. Both sides will end up claiming victory anyway. It'll just be boring.
  5. I'm not going to say you're wrong, but i don't know of any other member of his club. If you do, you're welcome to share or link me to their prediction (so we don't start a needless flame war because you mentioned someone's name).
  6. Not bizarre to me. SM3 is over with and TASM is now. They need to make their production budget back. So if you have a movie that you feel is lacking buzz, you try to create buzz with positive spin. That's exactly what Sony is doing.
  7. I'm always interested in articles about the big movies studios (The Big Six + Lionsgate and MGM) and what projects they are working on. It's hard to find information about projects in ther infancy, so that would be a great resource.
  8. I can't even fathom TA hitting that. That would be truly jaw-dropping. Then again, everything about TA has been jaw-dropping.
  9. As has been posted earlier in this thread, where's the TA number? I'm going into withdrawal over here. I need my good numbers.
  10. Nope. I didn't pay to see it. I still have my man card.
  11. I'm waiting for a few TDK fans to argue that TDK had more unique viewers than TA, because TA has sooo many repeat viewers. All these repeat viewings definitely tells you how special TA is on the big screen. It broke my own personal viewing record by being the first movie I ever saw 3 times in the movie theater.
  12. So you're in the minority. Most people don't agree with you. Most people chose to see TA with their hard earned entertainment dollars over other movies and other forms of entertainment. That's purely what the box office reflects. It reflects the choices that people made with their money. If you don't think a movie is good, then don't see it. But to create this absurd position about how a person can decide what a movie deserves to make is beyond ridiculous. That's not what the box office is. The box office only reflects peoples' choices. If you follow the box office, you should be doing so strictly to see what movies the majority of people liked. Maybe they will like the same movie as you, but maybe they won't. However, every movie deserves what it makes.
  13. RTH with my TA numbers. I missed those yesterday. Sorry guys, but RTH is my regular dealer. He always brings the good numbers.
  14. This is the problem in a nutshell. Some people can't accept that people disagree with their opinions about movies. They can't accept that the majority has different tastes than them. So they whine and complain when a movie they have decreed is "unworthy" breaks out and becomes the talk of the town.Look at RTX. His fragile ego can't handle how wrong he was about TA and its success. If it wasn't so sad, it would be kind of funny.
  15. Then why wouldn't it be happening with those other movies but is happening with TA? If it has nothing to do with deserving, then what could be the reason? Because we know it isn't popularity, since popularity is what determined the BO in the first place. We know it isn't critical acclaim because the stuffy critics liked TA. We know it isn't movie- goers satisfaction because movie-goers gave it a high cinema score.
