  1. Incept-i-like ETA: I just did shots for every "like" in that post. I am now wasted. Thanks a lot
  2. I hate Depp, but adore the snot out of Rango. Probably because I don't have to see his stupid mugging face the whole movie. Also bonus cool Timothy Olyphant role.
  3. I am thrilled she's getting to do Looking for Alaska. I love the book. Away From Her was devestating without being overly sentimental/schmaltzy.She is super talented.
  4. I don't get how anyone could hate LiT. Sophia Coppola made me laugh (unintentionally) in Godfather II, but I find her to be a compelling, interesting director. Her and Sarah Polley.
  5. It's my favorite movie of hers, hands down. I watched it five times the first weekend I rented it.Funnily enough, everyone I ever recommended it to HATED IT WITH THE FIRE OF A 1,000 SUNS HATED!
  6. It's not as bad as the rep it's gotten. Very much like the John Carter of last year. When the actual LR theme kicks in... kind of goosebumpy!
  7. Scarlett will always have a place in my heart for Lost in Translation. Up until the double whammy of CATWS (I thought she practically stole the movie from Evans) to HER, LiT was my favorite Scarlett performance. I will be watching Under the Skin as soon as it's at Redbox.Bring on LUCY!
  8. I think the Metreon from what I read put it in the smaller theater, but it did sell out there.Obviously, I'm not expecting millions, but with the critical reception + promotion + a better limited release and slow rollout, I think this movie could've pulled in a tidy little opening, and we could've been looking at a $50+ total DOM run rather than probably a $5-15mil. run.(Also if it opened last weekend instead of during TF4...)Thinking about how un-Hollywood this movie is, yeah... I'm really glad Bong Joon-Ho didn't cave in and had his vision intact, for better or worse, for domestic release.
  9. Cannot. LIKE. Enough.Rank the Marvel movies!(Did I troll right?)Damn, someone alert me when Snowpiercer's numbers come in. Good showing for TF4... unfortunately. It does really surprise me that there are so many cream of the crop blockbusters this year according to RT, and yet TF4 still manages to outgross all of them. Oh well.
  10. Whatever is this thread... Anyways, as much as I want to TF4 to crash and burn… I don't believe it will LOL!
  11. Is this going to be the weekend thread, or will that be separate once the first Fri. estimates are released? (I'm only here for what surely will be the disappointing SNOWPIERCER numbers…)
  12. The theater it's going to play at in San Rafael is a nice old-timey style non-profit; it's similar to the one I used to go to in Brookline (Coolidge Corner). Didn't realize San Rafael had a theater like that too! Also, YAY SAN RAFAEL'S GETTING IT!! It's so much closer than the Metreon.
  13. I really loved the third act - it may have been a wee bit predictable, but damn if it wasn't well-executed. And there was some catharsis there, for all the characters. I loved the acting as well. I didn't really see anything "emo" about it, other than finally
  14. Why would anyone who loves the Transformers franchise fling shit on Snowpiercer? It's not like this movie's going to outperform T4 at the box office, like… obviously! It just needs to have a decent showing for its limited release, and it's already made double it's budget from OS returns. Like, TF4 will beat it at the U.S. B.O. of course. It may not beat it on RT, but whatever.
  15. I know I'm on a conspiracy to annoy BK007. BTW, who's BK007?
  16. GO SEE IT PEOPLE! Let's try to have it open slightly better than Raid 2…
  17. I really would absolutely love it if it blew past $50mil. It deserve to be in the triple digits, especially if stuff like Transformers gets play. But it'll be lucky to break $10mil I think ((
  18. At least in the battle between Vanilla White Dudes Who Play All the Comic Book Characters, Chris Evans >>>>>>>>>>> Ryan Reynolds. Though my dog's turds >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ryan Reynolds. So.
  19. Well this just shot to number one of the year of my list. Tops TWS, though I can rematch the latter more (more fun/optimistic). But Jesus, this was sublime. Great filmmaking, great fucking action, and great acting. I can't see what the hell Weinstein wanted to edit, other than maybe stuff in the final act that really, oh… I don't know, developed characters and stuff. What the shit, Harvey? So, a confident 10/10 for me. I'll be buying this on BR if they ever release it. When I looked up the budget, I think it was around $30+ million, and it's already grossed $80mil int'l, so I guess it might, MAYBE make at least 3x its budget back once the US gets in play. Which is pretty good for this, right? I have no idea what to hope for this? Would $15 dom. be good? The release is so limited and crappy; there's only the Metreon playing it around me.
  20. My two favorite movies of the year sitting on spots No. 1 and 2. Go both CAP and LEGO BTW, just watched HER, and OMG SO IN LOVE WITH THE MOVIE!! So good!
  21. Aw... Sucks for Dragon. Hope legs can make a comeback. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm thirsting to. I just don't know if my three-year-old can handle it. Does the May/June box office seem.... Lacking to y'all? It might be one of the best reviewed BO's in a while, with a lot of blockbusters being certified fresh, but nothing's breaking out. Weird.
  22. I honestly think it's due to a bunch of "MUST SEE"s crammed into one month, as well as the typical X-Men frontloadedness coming into play. For this year, for tentpoles, there is actually a decent amount that don't totally suck, as shown by the RT scores, and CATWS and X-Men are part of the "cream of the crop" of CBMs. There's a lot more choice available to audiences, as well a packed first month. Pair it with the typical 2nd weekend drop for X-men movies, and WOM can't really save it. It will likely stabilize next week though, we'll have to see how EoT is received but signs are pointing to it might really be good.
  23. RRRRRREALLY hoping that Marvel or WB wisens up and movies their 2016 movies to April. Doesn't TWS have 2.7 multi right now? Yeah, these crowded Mays are killing legs…
