We're all making cracks and jokes, aka insinuating DC is falling apart and blah blah blah. I'm just shedding a new light on it that's all. I've made jokes like everyone for fun, but I'm looking at this from a different perspective. Let's say if this weren't a DC film or Marvel film, and a film on it's own and it opened to 125OW, what would the reaction be even if the film was not great? Holy shit, a 100M+ OW in August??? Are you shitting me? I think because of all the hype from this silly comic book feud (which I'll never understand), people aren't really grasping how big of a OW this is considering the month.

Exactly. I mean, with your example, could you imagine if this opened to what was expected and say around 85M? We'd be in a situation where we would question literally if it would make over 150M total DOM. At least with this huge OW in August, instead of looking at a finish around 160M, we're looking at around 250-260, 100M DOM difference. That's huge to me even if legs might be dissapointing. Not all films make it to 300M, I think people fail to realize it's not easy getting to 300M.

Despite all the doom and gloom, let's remember that this film IS smashing an August OW record, that can't be ignored. I think my early prediction for this was maybe around 60M for the longest time, then the trailers came out and I bumped it up to 70-80Mish. It took me awhile to predict over guardians, as I gave that movie high regards in getting a 90+ish OW in August, which is high. For this to open even past 100M is something to be said. Instead of us focusing on just the negatives, it's important to shed light on the positives too.

I didn't love fantastic and really have no idea what the story is about at all. Spiderman was the only comic book story period that I loved growing up and watching the animated TV show I'd die to see. If I missed an episode (this was back before you could record shows obviously) I'd cry and be so upset. My favorite character was a tie between venom and carnage, they were just so bad ass and I don't know, just something about them I always loved. The first spiderman for the playstation I still call a classic, I just love the game and story and of course venom's role in it (so hilarious and to me the perfect venom) and Carnage was good to though limited (his few parts though, his voice was eerily creepy). So, I can assume how SM3 would have effected me. I'm so glad there isn't a carnage movie, I don't ever want there to be a carnage movie as long as Sony has the rights. If it got turned over somehow back to Marvel studios/Disney then I would put my faith with them.

Because right now I'm not sure where it'll land. If it's 125, 50% drop is around 62.5. To predict a drop close to 70% is insanely high, even if the reviews are bad as this. And I didn't say it would be ballsy if it hit the 50's, that's where I think it'll be. I said it would be ballsy if it did hit 40 or lower.
