Just got back from seeing this in a double header movie night between this and Bad Moms. I wasn't sure what to expect and where to put my expectations given the big "uproar" this film was getting for weeks before release. I will say, I've never seen the original classic film so I'm sure that has some effect on my judgement. In some aspects of the film and judging it on it like any other film, I think some parts of characterization (like the prudish suit girl that was teaching to nobody in the college), were a bit rushed. For example I think it went way to fast to me to have college girl be like "nope, I'm done with this shit, I just want tenure" to all of a sudden "Yup! Imma ghostbuster bitches!". Now, I'm being a bit sarcastic/silly as I know she didn't say that, but it just felt like she saw one ghost and it was 180 for her. I feel someone who was so rooted in physics and the natural science would still find ways to argue what they saw. There were other circumstances where I felt some characters were rushed but it's neither there nor here, it didn't hinder the film for me in any significant value. I do think the end when they got the portal to close, it felt wicked cheesy to just have everything fall back into place like it never happened, like the big building was reconstructing itself. Some of the jokes landed and some didn't, but all in all I still walked at least saying I had fun watching it. Overall, I give this a B- with a score of 7/10.

Just got back from seeing both this and Ghostbusters in a movie double header. At first when the movie started, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I walked with little expectations as I figured it was going to be a typical trashy raunchy film and lame jokes that are way over used. While there are moments where this happens, overall the film surprised me and had me laughing a lot. The beginning to me was slow, which looking back actually wasn't as bad as it was setting up how sucky sometimes the life of a typical mom is. It kind of went fast and a bit everywhere, but that was obviously the point. I think from when the three girls met each other at the bar and started drinking, that's when the movie picked up for me (aka, when they started becoming bad moms) and I got into it more. I think all the actresses were great, the only minor one that threw me off was the husband of the main character (Amy I think her name was?). I'm not sure if perhaps he purposely made to look dumb each time he talked in a way to make fun of husbands as being lazy, or if it's just bad writing, because all his scenes weren't funny and were just cringe worthy (and not in the right way). Other than that, there were minor things of the film that were eh, but it was far more way enjoyable than I thought I would like it. Overall, I'd give it a solid B, a score of 7.5/10.

This stinks. A part of me feels like at his point Smurfs is going to outgross STB domestically.

To be honest, I think it'd be far scarier if the eyes weren't shown. There's just something about the eyes I don't like. But overall looks good I guess.

Just saw Pets hours ago, posted my review in the RTM thread but overall it's enjoyable for what it is.

Saw this hours ago with my mom, and I found it to be actually enjoyable. It's a cartoon, and it's geared for kids so I know what to expect, and yet I found it funny throughout the film and was enjoying the story throughout. Sure, it has it's moments where it's a bit crazy and things are a bit all over the place (the sausage scene for example is probably the most 'wtf?' moment and kind of threw me off), but overall it's a good story and is entertaining for what it is. I enjoyed some of the characters whereas some kind of were just 'there' and were clearly extras. Overall I'd give this film a 7/10 and a solid B overall.

If there was a film this year that deserved to make 1B WW this year, it would be JB.
