Early weekend estimates from insidekino.de for Germany:
#1: Paw Patrol 2 - 325k (a bit behind the first but no wonder with the nice weather, those movies collect their total over a long run anyway)
#2: The Nun 2 - 160k (-32%, that would be a very nice drop)
#3: The Creator - 110k, ok I'd say
#4: Wochenendrebellen - 100k, good
So, possibly all three wide openers in the 6-digit-range, that would be awesome (hadn't seen that coming for Wochenendrebellen, presales didn't look strong - those kind of movies tend to be very leggy)

An ok weekend, at least we had 18 releases >10k admissions, so a wide selection, and Nun 2 opened within expectations. Expendables 4 however just awful … among holdovers, family releases increased, Elemental should definitely reach that 2mil milestone - who would have thought after the lukewarm opening? And among domestic releases, Rehragout Rendezvous is now officially the biggest seller in the series (as was to be expected after the strong opening).
In Austria, a similar chart but with overall higher numbers, Nun 2 should make at least 100k total here; on #2 we had a kiddie movie and Rehragout will become the biggest seller of the series in Austria, too (which was a higher goal since the last one made the Golden Ticket wirh a litte over 300k admissions). Expendables 4 flopped less hard than in Germany but still only #4 …
Next weekend: We should see a very different chart, with three medium-to-big openers entering the market. Paw Patrol 2 seems like a sure hit after the first one crossed 1,5mil total, it should win the weekend with ease. The Creator, presales look like a six-digit OW. And domestic family dramedy Wochenendrebellen (a book adaption) seems like the type of movie with maybe not that big an OW but good legs.
- 2
- 1
-
final estimates a little higher for all releases, fine (still awful OW for Expendables 4 ...)
- 1
-
early weekend estimates from insidekino.de show, indeed, both openers on #1 and #2:
#1: The Nun 2 - 225k admissions
#2: Expendables 4 - 65k (it was struggling in presales but this is worse than expected)
#3: Equalizer 3 - 62k
Given the way it's selling, I wouldn't be surprised if Expendables will come in behind Equalizer in actuals ... overall, Nun2 doing ok and saving the weekendd a bit while holdovers fail to profit from the bad weather it seems.
- 1
-
what a tedious, boring movie ... stretching the lean revenge script (which might have served for an ok 1-hour-actioner) to Fellowship-of-the-Ring length was a terrible idea, and as a whole I was not sure if this was supposed to be some kind of self-spoof or taken seriously (but given the running time, I suspect the latter).
CGI was too over-the-top too, but that's just my personal taste; most of those HDR scenes seemed like taken out from some shooter game - maybe I'm too old for that kind of aestethics.

From the nice Kinofest numbers back to business as usual (or rather, even worse than usual) - not a single release with >100k admissions, and not even arthousy releases had a decent PTA.
In Austria, numbers were only a little better (but we had a different #1, A Haunting in Venice ahead of Equalizer 3).
Next weekend: Two attractive releases - The Expendables 4 and The Nun 2 - should reanimate the BO a bit; presales for Nun 2 look ok while Expendables seems to be struggling. Still, a new #1/#2 combo seems possible. As a bonus, weather is predicted to be much less sunny, so hopefully we'll see some increases or at least excellent holds from holdovers.

Thanks to the Kinofest with cheap tickets, excellent holds (and increases for family movies, even Mario Bros. back in the charts) despite summery weather! It's rare to have 20 releases >10k at this point. Openers were disappointing, though … in Austria, without the Kinofest, numbers were much lower.
Next weekend: The biggest opener should be Branagh's 3rd Poirot adaption, A Haunting in Venice - maybe 3rd place is possible? No big other openers so holdovers should be fine, however, without Kinofest, expect some steep drops.

Is it Kinofest weekend this weekend with €5 tickets?
Yep, you're right! Is it really 5€? that would be nice and will push admissions a bit.
Here in Tyrol we have our own "Kinofest"; it's the last September weekend but tickets are still €7,50 - wtf?! I mean, why bother with this little discount and not go the Germany way with 5€ tickets?! Really silly.

Ok weekend with four 6-digit-releases - Equalizer 3 with an excellent opening, quite a bit bigger than I expected, whils Strays flopped even harder than expected. Barbie, Oppenheimer and especially Elemental with good holds once more, while Rehragout dropped a bit steeper - still on its way to become the bestselling entry in this series!
In Austria, also all Top4 with >10k admissions, but different positions: Barbie led in front of Rehragout, Equalizer3 and Oppenheimer.
Next weekend: With summery weather predicted, expect steeper drops; no big openers but domestic comedy Enkel für Fortgeschrittene might make the Top5 (in Germany). My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is also opening, presales are there but nothing special. Releasing two comedies about families on the same weekend might not have been the best idea but the demo has been a bit neglected so maybe both can survive.

Worse weather lead to a BO recovery - Barbie on its way to maybe 6mil total, Rehragout crossed 1mil, Meg2 is looking good for 1mil too and Elemental is still strong, 2mil maybe still possible. Openers were poor, girl-horse adaption Ponyherz doing maybe half of what such movies usually make on OW, and Jeanne du Barry with a so-so PTA despite the limited release.
In Austria, similar numbers (a bit worse maybe) except for Rehragout which still leads the chart and should already be near 200k total.
Next weekend: Two wide openers - Equalizer 3 with a slight chance at #2 I'd say; a 6-digit-OW should be possibly anyway. Strays (locally titled "Doggy Style") - no idea, Germans sometimes like those crude comedies but presales look really poor in this case, everything >50k would be a success I guess.

Elemental might still cross the 2m admissions mark.
In Austria, it's a bit ahead, by now at approx. 225k total with a slight chance at 250k but an excellent chance of beating Incredibles2 (236.800 admissions, #10 in 2018 which was overall a really bad year but had 8 "Golden Tickets")

So Barbie stayed flat from last weekend?
most releases were more or less flat - worse weather and no openers worth mentioning, that's pretty common in German summers. Family releases might even show healthy increases.
Overall, a not-bad weekend, I guess we became a bit pampered after the three extremely strong Barbenheimer weekends, but compared to an average Germany summer weekend, it was ok.
- 2
-
as expected, estimates are not very reliable this weekend ... (we had our rain in the night or early morning hours, so no big influence on BO - indeed, Saturday has been more agreeable outdoors than many other days this week because it was a little cooler) - but Sunday at least looks rainy in almost all regions, so we should have a fine afternoon and evening for the BO and maybe actuals will be higher.

much better than early estimates but I think this weekend estimates are very wobbly, depending on weather which differs very much between regions

Baaad weekend, horrible drops and pathetic openers … in Austria, very similar numbers but Rehragout is still leading here, and Barbie has crossed 600k admissions, so the Platinum Ticket is already safe and it might catch Mario Bros. for 2023's #1.
Next weekend: Baaad weekend coming, again no big openers and summery weather.

still no second trend
I wouldn't expect any major changes, weather and admissions are pretty much as expected

weatherforecast is really fine for most regions this weekend, so - without any major openers - a truly horrible weekend is to be expected 😬

Massive drops highlight just how much German summer BO is depending on weather conditions; still a good weekend with one excellent opening - Rehragout-Rendezvous had a new record OW for the franchise. Gran Turismo was not flopping as hard as I expected, but far from satisfying. Barbie and Oppenheimer continued their strong runs, 5mil total should be doable for Barbie which had a comparatively good hold. Family releases always suffer hardest when it's sunny but Elemental held better than the others, a good sign. Miraculous crossed 1mil total, always the target for such adaptions - fine!
In Austria, Rehragout won the weekend (the franchsise has always been very popular in Austria, thanks to cultural proximity to Bavaria); it was already at 80k after Sunday, all other releases were on Germany's level or even lower. Barbie is still heading towards 600k total (the "Diamond Ticket").
Next weekend: Kandahar, The Last Voyage Of The Demeter, Blue Beetle - I see no opener cracking the 6-digit-mark. The most interesting (but limited) opener is Korean drama Past Lives which arrives with stellar reviews; it should have an excellent PTA and maybe an expansion in the weeks after. Weather conditions are unstable - it's unsure when the rains or thunderstorms will be starting; if it's early enough, family releases should see a comeback - but this week's Top3 should stay safe.

Those Rita Falk adaptions really are incredible ... the 9th installment and openings are still growing bigger. And this latest one even had Wednesday previews for the first time, which must have taken some pressure of the actual WE.

While it's easy for such a series to grow in the beginning, where it had a very limited start, it's pretty rare too keep that momentum through so many years. However, now that we're near saturation (cinema-wise) I guess further increases will be much harder if there's a 10th at all - atm there is no new movie being planned since we're out of source material afaik but with this one's success, there must be a strong interest to produce more of them!

Final estimates from insidekino.de:
#1: Barbie - 425k
#2: Rehragout - 400k incl. previews
#3: Oppie - 300k
#4: Meg2 - 150k
all other releases <100k admissions, but family releases all went up from Saturday estimates so I guess weather wasn't as good as predicted! Still an excellent summer weekend.

Saturday updated estimates from insidekino.de - all releases down (fine weather I guess) but still a strong weekend of course.

I don't know whose expectations that were, presales were less than half of Creator's where I looked so going head-to-head with Creator over the weekend is in fact clearly above mine
