ESPN is a problem they will have to solve within the decade, but you're kidding if you think the Walt Disney company is collapsing. If it is, then we can just give up on the economy, really.

I never said that I said the movies are offsetting espn which is in the process of collapsing disney is fine just needs to solve problems

As long as there is 'sports' ESPN will be fine. One down time doesn't mean jack shit. JFC.

its being going down for years its lost almost 20% of its subsicres over the past few years this is an ongoing problem  and a pretty major one for disney its films are its current saving grace and its properties are great but cable and espn are them ost important parts of the company and they are collapsing

its kinda of a big problem

Im pretty sure Disney/ESPN isn't too concerned about it! Lololol

yeah im pretty sure they are declining revenues are kinda of big deal for the biggest asset a compnay has its why all those people are leaving and its still happening disney stock has taken a pounding this past year because of it

Disney makes a large chunk of its profits—almost 50%—from the sports network, and investors are concerned that its growth and profitability are being hampered by a loss of subscribers due to “cord cutting.”

thats why all of  those people are leaving/ being kicked out they are trying to cut costs. subscribers are going down due to cord cutters and espn is disney biggest cash cow so its losing money which is why the current success of its films is good for the company allowing it to offset its other issues

This is so true, it's bugging me a little. He should be already starting to get over her.

Some of these season's story-line do appear to regress a bit compared to the books. It's almost like they just wanted to give GRRM an extra year to get the book out before spoiling everything...

all of the storylines none have really moved forward except maybe arya the rest are actually maybe a bit behind grrm, jon just took over stannis storyline, Dany moved forward as well i guess but only a little in the most obvoius way that grrm wouldn't do everything else is in a holding pattern a really bad one whihc makes me question why cut arianne, aegon, stannis, and so on if you do nothing interesting with the time you save

In the show Jaime never found out that Cersei actually had been fucking other people, which in the books is one of the reasons he drifts away from her. So there is some rationality behind his actions in the show.

Doesn't mean it was the right idea though.

it isn't great and for all their talk of streamlining the book most of the sotry have done a reverse this year like the battle of ice and the battle of fire which they are more or less putting in now

Good episode, not as much happened as I would have hoped which means the finale is going to be hugely stuffed.

I think other than maybe a brief cameo in the finale, we won't see Arya again this season. For those people who are going to claim her arc in Season 5 and 6 has been a timewaste, the whole point is for Arya to learn assassin/fighting/etc skills so presumably when she gets back to Westeros she'll be exceedingly efficient at settling old scores.

I really wanted FrankenGregor to murderize Lancel. Meanwhile Tommen has went from pussy-whipped to sparrow-whipped. They've really dumbed down Ser Kevan and even Pycelle because if either of them had a brain they would know that if Cersei loses her trial, Tommen loses any right to rule since the Faith will make sure he gets declared a bastard and it will assume total control of King's Landing. Do we know what rumor Cersei had Qyburn look into? I can't recall.

Mereen was a timesink this episode just to set up finale action with fire catapult ships, dragons, Unsullied, Dothraki, and Greyjoys. I'm curious as to what Varys' mission is.

The Riverrun scenario played out pretty similar to the books, except Brienne/Pod weren't there and the Blackfish escaped instead of being killed off-camera. Also, by this point in the books Jaime essentialy doesn't give a rats ass about Cersei whereas in the show he is still head-over-heels obsessed with her.

really don't like what they have done with jaime and the amount of  trolling they did with lsh is just annoying. Its probably the wildfire with regard to cersei and the KL poltics have been stupid for two years now DD seem to have given up there. Meereen is just weird they just put in the battle of fire out of nowhere this season has been a waste of every essosi character honestly only the north story has moved forward this season. That is kinda of an issue they cut a lot out but replace with wastes like the joke scene or the pod and bronn scene and they have been doing that for years its getting annoying

They aren't even winning television per se.

Dardevil and Jessica Jones are better than Felicity and Friends, Flash, LoT and Supergirl imo.

Luke Cage is on the way, so is Iron Fist (and The Punisher)

Flash is the best superhero show on tv and arrow 1+2 were great even supergirl is good. Plus you can't really count netflix for a variety of reasons

I forgot about POTC, added it in.

I don't know what to expect from Wolverine.

    PP3 won't make the Top 20

I'm trying to keep expectations in check on Alien despite how excited I am for it, I only have it doing 40/110 right now.

Be careful on the Internet guys, some spoilers for future eps from reddit are floating around and the source has been right about events in prior episodes. Accidentally stumbled into a few of them.

That said, one of them I am still going to call bull on until it actually happens.

Which one they all seem true and a lot of them are backed up by multiple sources

I had no expectations. I don't care if it does well or not.  Im not constant handringing. Others keep bringing it up, many times in a foolish manner with nothing to back their whimsical behaviour. I'm presenting facts

You're right though. Im not good at parties.

March 2000. At a party with a bunch of tech people. I was called an ass hole a few times. They kept asking me, the trader, where the market was going. They all had millions in vested options working for Oracle, Microsoft lucent Psinet Linux etc.  I kept telling them there were several reasons that the market was ready to crash and that I was sold short. They just whimsically raised their hand in the air and said nasdaq was going to 10000 with out a legit reason to back it. I told them to sell half just in case. No one likes Cassandra. The more I reasoned the more they got angry. Several of my friends were wiped out and hated me as if I caused the crash instead of just warned them.

One woman sold. PsInet went bankrupt a year later and she lost her job. She had nearly a million though that would have been wiped out. She thanked me. For that, it was worth it.

BTW. Like it or not. Trump is going to win. That is by the numbers. Seriously, been saying it long before he clinched. That pisses a lot of people. But it's the truth. I can't help it. I'm not hoping for it. It's just going to happen. Look at the data.

    Cheers

I have been focused on class for a while but this pot its worth a reponse. Okay nostradamus you predicted a rising industry wouldn't rise forever congratulations. You should you get paid for this,  What data on Trump man, the most hated candidate in modern history, historically low amongst minorities and women those numbers or the fact that half of his party refuses to support him. On piracy suddenly Civil War the 8th movie in a series is killed by piracy not any other major blockbuster just civil war. Not TFA the most anticapated movie of all time just civil war okay

Even if it had had the best reviews in the world, I never saw it making much more than $400 million anyway.

I think it'll wind up around $365 million. Just see average legs after a huge opening and nothing very exciting to follow.

    Roll on Jungle Book

that's not average legs that all time awful legs average legs get it to 400

And yet Hobbit 3 out-opened Hobbit 2 in just about every market it was playing in. Look what happened. It made $30M more in China, but $30M less everywhere else. And I repeat, it out-opened hobbit 2 almost everywhere. Still 30M less.

Nothing is guaranteed, especially with a movie getting such bad reviews.

Getting TDKR numbers with the reviews BvS has is definitely not something I would qualify as "easy", even if it out-opened it.

Avengers 2 also out-opened Avengers in just about every market it opened in, and it still grossed a lot less in all of them. China saved the day though, and it doesn't look as bad as it was because of that, but it should have.

When TFA came out, people were saying Titanic was toast. Some people said it wasn't as clear-cut, they was still a way for Titanic to stay #2, and on reddit anyway they were getting downvoted to oblivion. What happened though? Titanic won.

Nothing is guaranteed. The numbers will speak for themselves.

of course nothing is guaranteed but one thing is assuming that the lowest of the low ends will occur. In addition in most territories take china for example it did  over TDKR total  in the first weekend is significantly above it thus far and with Europe still on vacation and no competition i don't see how it could do less than a billion. It is clear that people making those predictions are assuming the worst imaginable legs while people saying a billion  are not even assuming good legs but rather below average blockbuster legs which will still get it to a billion

Most movies don't open at that level because most movies don't open worldwide like BvS just did. The sample size of movies opening in the exact same pattern as BvS is very, very limited and thus, drawing conclusions just from it is rather preposterous.

I say we'll see, but don't be so eager to count this as an impossibility when it's clearly still a possibility that this movie misses $1B

It out opens tdkr by a significant amount in almost every major market that movie Hoyt 636 OS in the US the absolute floor is 380 it needs 620 OS to get that 1 billion that's pretty easy. Which most of the forum already knows the post from when the numbers came out all reflected that now is the time like clockwork when the the people who second guess come in until the next days numbers shut them up again
