I enjoyed the trailer, I can tell I am going to love this movie, exactly the kind that touches me emotionally.

One or two people defending a movie they like? That's ridiculous love for Gravity? If that's ridiculous Id love to know your opinion of debates over Interstellar and Man of Steel.

I don't understand the Gravity hate and when it became cool to hate it, when it came out all people did was rave about it. When it was competing for Oscars, many people cheered it on. It also won the BOFFIE here if I remember correctly (and was 1st on the composite top 25 movies of 2013 list). The film is masterly crafted, the only complaints that I ever hear are about the weak script, but somehow that makes the movie trash? It's like it became the cool thing to start hating on. It's still my top film from 2013 because I don't bend my opinion based on whatever is the cool thing to do at the time.

Yeah, it's a revenge flick starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It should have mainstream appeal.

Speaking of people's choice awards I saw a vision of them too and the nominees were Brooklyn The Danish Girl Far From the Madding Crow Joy Suffragette Suffragette won, although Streep lost best actress to Eddie Redmayne (who also picked up best actor).

Hateful Eight is Tarantino so its not Oscar baity. Revenant has DiCaprio and Joy has JLaw. Oscar films did well in 2013 and 2012 and the movies look more commercially accessible this year.

My problem is if I watch a movie and hate it, I'm not not going to waste my time and money to see it again. Only way that happens is if I'm with friends and they decide to watch it or something like that. Also, if I love a movie on the first viewing, I'm not going to give it a B+ until I see it again. I'm going to give it the grade I think it deserves then and change it if something changes my mind later.

I wait till they're either on Netflix or HBO Go, or until I can rent them online and stream them.

Everyone has at least one movie that they cry in no matter how many times they watch it. Name yours! Some of mine are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Finding Nemo - I cry multiple times throughout this movie, for whatever reason. It moves me. The Shawshank Redemption - I literally wept for 5 straight minutes at the ending, I don't know why, I just broke down in happiness.

Interstellar was doom and gloom and dark? It was Nolan's most humorous and sentimental movie and it was very much filled with hope and optimism. It really wasn't all that dark.

I'm thinking the Martian could get in, its the kind of Sci-fi the Academy would like. This year could have a lot of 100m+ films nominated Inside Out The Martian The Hateful Eight Steve Jobs? The Revenant? Bridge of Spies? Joy? Mad Max Star Wars 7 The Good Dinosaur In the Heart of the Sea We could have a fairly populous year with all of those in contention. Obviously there are still films like Spotlight, Beasts of No Nation, Carol, Youth, Room, and such that have little chance at 100m+ So it could look like 1.Joy - 150m 2.Steve Jobs - 130m 3.The Revenant - 125m 4.Inside Out - 350m 5.The Martian - 200m 6.The Hateful Eight - 175m 7.Spotlight - 20m 8.Beasts of No Nation - 5m 9.Carol - 30m 10.Brooklyn - 25m 11.Star Wars - 650m 12.Mad Max - 150m 13.Room - 10m 14.In the Heart of the Sea - 115m 15.The Danish Girl - 25m Its looking like a competitive year.
