My brother and I were discussing the movie a couple of days ago and how his kids were gutted leaving the theater. Having lived through both eras we agreed Infinity War is this generation's Empire Strikes Back. Watch the potential spoilers when discussing the film please. Thanks baumer

Yeah, speaking for myself it'll be tough because the nostalgia factor for the old-heads is pretty much gone with Luke dead, Han dead, Leia doing nothing of importance in the last film and Carrie Fisher is gone so you know there isn't much they can do with her character beyond TLJ. They really blew it there. I'm one of those guys that will go see a movie I love in theaters 4-5 times lol. I've already seen IW three times. I saw TLJ only once which has never happened for any Star Wars movie. The new characters bore the shit out of me so I'm no longer even hyped for EP IX and I wouldn't be surprised if there are many that feel the same way I do.

I have no hype for this movie whatsoever but I'll give it a chance as I've liked some remakes in the past. One thing I do like about remakes is they make a new generation of people more aware of the original film and they'll check it out.

I loved BP and have seen it twice already and even if it made Doctor Strange money I wouldn't have cared since all I wanted was a great film. Seeing it break out this way is just the cherry on top and makes me smile. It's been a very long time since I've gone to the theater during the winter and seen it buzzing with so much activity. It made me feel like summer was here already.

Not just commercially but critically. Coogler threw down the gauntlet. After Black Panther's rave reviews critics are going to be less forgiving to Infinity War coming so soon after. I have faith in the Russos but I'm expecting an Age of Ultron level rating with IW. There's so much to juggle and they have to introduce a new villain and his entourage. Something has to give lol. This high 80s-90s run has to end some time.

I think a lot of that is spillover from Black Panther which is bringing huge crowds to the theaters. Novice moviegoers (like my parents) think they can just show up to the theater and get a ticket to BP 20 minutes before the movie starts lol. The packed parking lot doesn't give them a clue that the movie and the next showing is most likely sold out already so they choose something else and Jumanji is the next best alternative.
