Well that's something we can agree on. Warner Bros let Tim Burton off his leash after the success of Batman and the abomination Batman Returns was the result. It was similar to Michael Bay being reined in for the first Transformers film and then they let him off the leash and it was full Bay for Revenge of the Fallen...humping robots and swinging robot balls and all. There are some directors that need to be on a freakin leash.

People are allowed to have different opinions. I just want to hear legit reasons that SM1 was one of the best CBMs of all-time. Maguire was decent and at least likable as Peter Parker. Unfortunately his Spider-man didn't have much of a personality. The bite and discovery of powers was good but that was all apart of the origin I liked anyway. Jameson was one of the highlights of the second half of the movie. MJ was annoying. She's dating Harry, flirting with Peter and lusting after Spider-man but wants Harry to stick up for her when Norman gives his son some good advice to dump her lol. And she got worse in SM2 using Jameson's son and leaving him at the alter. Just an all-around terrible character. I have no idea what Peter saw in her. Goblin should have worked a whole lot better. The suit design they settled on was terrible and if only they could have gave Spider-man and Goblin the same type of action scenes like Peter vs Harry in SM3. I never saw what was so special about the upside down kiss. I guess I'm not romantic enough The supporting cast was pretty good. It's too bad the script didn't give them much to work with beyond the origin.

How exactly? I'm genuinely perplexed when people rank this movie so high. The origins are handled great but the movie really falls apart and loses direction in the second half and just becomes a mish-mash of random scenes thrown together. The Goblin has no motive whatsoever to recruit Spider-man and he looks ridiculous on top of that. Peter's love interest is a hoe-cake going from Flash, to Harry, to lusting over Spider-man and then finally to Peter all in one film lol. The action is rather dull and not very inventive. You have Spider-man and Goblin who are both very mobile characters restricted to static battles in a very colorful artificial looking Times Square, an apartment building, on a bridge, and finally some abandoned condemned building. The only thing SM1 got right in the second half was J. Jonah Jameson, Willem Dafoe hamming it up as Norman at Thanksgiving, Goblin's death and the final swinging sequence.

I feel bad for Garfield. It's not his fault the writers and director made his Peter Parker/Spider-man so annoying and unlikable. He certainly had the acting chops to pull off what Holland did. In fact Garfield's Peter Parker/Spider-man was very organic similar to Holland's. Tobey's Peter Parker holds up well for me in SM2 but I get a disconnect during the Spider-man scenes where it feels like I'm watching a stunt double with no personality.

I hate you. Both times I saw SMH I got the shittiest trailers ever, not one Marvel trailer. I was waiting for Black Panther and it never came The second time I went to a different theater hoping it would change the outcome...got the same trailers. That Pitch Perfect trailer made me shut my eyes and and go to my Happy place.

Context is everything. This is Marvel's 13th film, the 3rd as an ensemble. The novelty has worn off and not only are they going to have a tougher time getting great critical reception as the MCU keeps going it's also going to be tougher bringing in a new audience this late in the game when you now have to have knowledge of past movies to know what the hell is going on. 1+ billion is fantastic at this stage. 875 million for the other movie is no "flop" but it wasn't expected to be that low either. That was three of their flagship characters on screen together for the very first time. You don't make that kind of movie and expect a modest increase over MOS. They wanted Avengers money or at the very least Iron Man 3 money. 875 is disappointing considering everything the other movie had going for it.

I've been interested in seeing it since I first saw the trailer a couple of months ago but last night I saw a TV spot with the voice-overs saying how great the movie was while listing no legit sources. That's usually not a good sign.

Trying to replicate Cap taking down a helicopter isn't so easy to do at home. -

I'm the same way. I've had eye surgeries which have left me vulnerable to light sensitivity issues so I don't mind cloudy days. The summers here are very mild and enjoyable compared to hell which is what I call the South lol. -

In Pittsburgh we get about 100 sunny days a year lol. I can understand the need to take advantage of good weather.
