  1. A 55m OW would be a good opening, factoring in this film is the 2nd SW of the year, it has no draws, is opening in the wake of MIB3 and TA.... Seems like a good opening to me regardless of what the budget is.OW numbers should be judged on there own merit not the production budget of the film. If the studio chooses to inflate costs it shouldn't affect SW's 55m OW which is pretty damn good for a fantasy.
  2. I see 18.5m OD, 20M Sat and 14m Sunday based off of my estimated Midnight number. 52m OW, that is a awesome OW number if the case. I posted this yesterday, so it seems to be at around this level, and all that ridiculous talk about being frontloaded because K Stew is in the film can finally be put to bed now. Lower midnights than MIB3 and likely a higher OD confirms that.
  3. Fantastic to see OS market embrace this, hopefully a weekend in the 70-90m range is appropriate?
  4. I am a fan of TA, you don't need to orgasm at the sight of the Hulk to be a fan of TA.Are you trying to imply that Inception's OS gross was bad?
  5. ^ Nah epic movie, best of 2011.Seven Pounds. Seriously 28% I give it an A- I loved big Will in this, people I talk to love it, I'm not sure why it was panned.
  6. Good news, the trailer must have really had an impact all over the world, hopefully it is the same case domestically.
  7. Well I believe TDK wasnt released in China at all so whatever it grosses there which should be big numbers will only add to TDKR total. Ledger's death is irrelevant now, people who wouldn't have seen TDK before his death saw it and will most likely have loved it as most people have, those are just gained fans at this point who will tune into TDKR.
  8. Well that is alright then, why does the article say otherwise or have I miss interpreted?
  9. Couldn't care less about Superman, he isn't relevant at the BO atm. TDK was really well recieved WW, it's also the finale in the trilogy, will most likely be a critical hit and have strong legs combined with a big opening.ASM could be a terrible film for all we know, that probably won't affect it to much OS if it is the case.
  10. Haha I love Nolan's Batman, hate everything else Batman, I am not invested in superheroes at the BO at all, I love Harry Potter, LOTR, Fantasy, Leo. If you want to go through this again I will, I have no bias towards Marvel or Spiderman lol.
  11. I never really had much of a connection with the original trilogy, maybe I'm not seeing what everyone else is, I agree it is a good trailer but really don't understand why people won't feel the same disconnect that I do.
  12. Why? It isn't Spiderman 4, its a complete reboot, people might reject this as an unnecessary sequel, I will give you 700m is completely possible but definitely not a set minimum, the range on this OS is very broad, 450 -850m not 700m+
  13. 600m OS is a pretty good prediction, I just have a feeling it really is going to have a big disconnect to overcome with audiences, rethinking the 3D aspect I might be tempted to push my prediction up to 550m as we get closer to release but for now 450m is were I see it falling. That prediction falls in line with my 210m DOM prediction.
  14. 450m OS is my prediction. People won't react to this the same way I expect it to do weak numbers domestic.
  15. 350M wouls be a fantastic total, if holds can manage to stay strong despite the soccer coming up it could push 400m OS, will be difficult though.
  16. The cinema chain is also for sale, it comes with Hoyts Dist.
  17. WOW big news, hopefully new buyers can really improve the chain.
  18. Australian Movie Distributor Hoyts For Sale By THE DEADLINE TEAM | Friday June 1, 2012 @ 12:26am PDTTags: Hoyts Distribution, Pacific Equity Partners Comments (2) Freelance journalist Don Groves is a Deadline contributor based in Sydney. EXCLUSIVE: Hoyts Distribution, which handles The Twilight Saga franchise in Australia, is on the market. Private equity firm Pacific Equity Partners, which bought the Hoyts group for $A440M in 2007, is anxious to sell before the final installment Breaking Dawn Part 2 opens in November. PEP in 2010 flagged its intention to unload the entire group that was once owned by Kerry Packer and includes the second-largest cinema chain in Australia and New Zealand and a screen advertising business, but nothing came of it. Headed by the well-regarded Robert Slaviero, Hoyts Distribution has amassed a sizable library since it launched in 2001 and one rival distributor estimates the division’s worth at about $40M. PEP and Hoyts execs made presentations to potential buyers at the Cannes market. The sale has ramifications for U.S. suppliers as Hoyts has contracted to release a bunch of titles through 2013 including Killing Them Softly, Alex Cross, Robosapien: Rebooted 3D, The Impossible, The Sweeney, The Host, Broken City, Thunder Run 3D and Necromancer. http://www.deadline.com/2012/06/australian-movie-distributor-hoyts-for-sale/
  19. I hate Catelyn even more now, releasing Jamie, and after reading up until Bran's fall into the book I cannot stand her, her treatment of Jon is disgusting.
  20. Fantastic news, encouraging signs for a OS total possibly well above 300m.
  21. If you mentioned those two films to me I immediately think Bale and Dicaprio. Maybe when The Fighter ages a little more.
