...because we all know as kids, that's how we get introduced to movies. At some point, we stop liking "cartoons" and graduate to live action only, but maybe later when we have our own families we realize some animated films are great... Or we are just animated film geeks who got hooked to Miyazaki/Anime/Pixar and it was this one movie that started your 2nd animation appreciation. For me, I guess I never really stopped liking animated films due to them not being cool to watch anymore. Got hooked in the 90s Disney 2nd golden age starting with the Little Mermaid, and never really stopped liking them, even when my friends thought they were getting too old for cartoons. I remember taking a girlfriend to see Emperor's New Groove. And the movie that got me hooked on Pixar was Finding Nemo. I stopped becoming a DWA doubter and started becoming a believer with HTTYD.

I actually didn't like 1 and 2 as much as I do now until after I saw 3. TS3 really wrapped the whole series up so nicely.

I forgot Universal had Illumination... FOX also has Blue Sky already... WB does sound like the best bet.

I wouldn't bet on it but who knows? Disney's already got a huge library, they already own Pixar, and WDAS has been doing much better as of late. WiR beat RotG pretty handily. Only reason I can see them buying DWA is for their library... But would Lasseter really want to have to produce movies for Shrek and Po? I would say Universal would be the best place to land DWA. They're already in their parks.

I don't know if he'd step down but I wonder if he'd consider selling... And if so, to who?

Maybe the plan is to push Frozen next year. Monster's U looks like a crowd pleaser, but if we're going by "Oscar-winning tone," Disney's best bet is probably Frozen.

Was really glad to see Chapman up there. Not sure what this means in terms of internal politics (she did leave Pixar, right?), but I think it's only right that she got the trophy as well. I was surprised to see Brave win this but I think it's just as deserving as the others. I still think it was unfairly reviewed. I know the Oscars are very politicky so this arguably has to do with John Lasseter's ability to Weinstein the voters, but at the same time, I'm glad it got recognized like that and happy for the folks who worked on it. That said - curious what Disney animators think about this. They busted their butt on WiR, they got better reviews than Brave, and they still don't get pushed by their studio above the other movie? Disney could have won the Oscar with WiR easily as well I think.

Right - except I thought WALL-E was better than KFP (I'm that guy who thinks Ratatouille is the best Pixar film). I do think that in terms of audience appeal, KFP turned out to be more crowd pleasing; but yes, I would say that WALL-E was the type that was "supposed to win."

I think this feels like 2007 all over again, with Brave in WALL-E's shoes and WiR in KFP's... Except that Brave IMO was unfairly reviewed by critics so it didn't have the "it has a higher critic rating on RT" argument going for it.I don't mind Brave winning it at all. Loved it. I will say I'm just surprised that it still won given its reception from the critics and that Disney could have just as easily pushed for WiR and gotten the win there.Lasseter is animation's Harvey Weinstein.

I'm surprised/glad that Brenda chapman got to accept the award.

I would love it if they brought Gargoyles back... Not enough fans for that though. I remember they only released the first third of the first season to see if enough fans bought it before releasing the rest... It didnt sell enough, hence the other seasons are not officially being released.Such a shame, loved that concept.

Brave wins GG.Don't get me wrong because I love Brave and felt it got the shaft from critics, so I'm glad it got some recognition... But I honestly thought this was WiR's to lose. For the GG at least. What do I know.I wonder what the academy will do...

If you're not going to knock it out of the park the way Brad Bird did with Ratatouille, I think I'd rather you let the person who came up with the idea finish the job. Brave was still good, but unlike Ratatouille, I think I will always be wishing I saw Chapman's original version.

It sounds like she is based on Northern Cali now. Only major studios out that I know of out there are Pixar, LucasArts, and DWA, so it wouldn't be out of the question.But yeah, with her resume she can probably work anywhere she wants.

Why do you doubt it? I'd be surprised if she stayed. She probably was all excited when she left the good ol' boys club at Pixar for LucasArts, only to have her dreams shattered when Disney bought them. Why would she stick around to work under the same people who took her off her own project?
