Yes, it reminds of the BnL website they set up for WALL-E. Love when they do that sort of stuff.

there was a Calvin and Hobbes TV special??(Not comparing these. I loved them both equally as a child.)

Pixar is saving itself for when Disney gets the rights to Calvin and Hobbes, that's why. ;)As for this....... I don't know how I feel about it yet. I am definitely going to see it but am worried about how it will turn out... I sort of trust Blue Sky, but still...

They should rerelease a double feature Fox and the Hound/Dumbo in 3D! THAT WOULD BE SO EPIC. -
Good run. Thought it might be sub-200 for while there. Nice to see animation come back this year after that debacle last year.

Dreamworks Animation: What Went Wrong?
whoot replied to A Marvel Fanboy's topic in Box Office Discussion
Why would you bring up Delgo if tribe had already conceded DWA had "stepped up its game" (which you just said is "all you were saying") unless you were trying to make it sound again like people were once again unfairly casting DWA as some third rate studio? Also if you would stop trying to make us the enemy you'd actually find we're closer in our views than you think. We've all agreed Pixar built up a stellar reputation and the gold standard based on their strong start in the past decade, but have been "sputtering" as of late because of poor decisions on where to go... We've all agreed DWA started off slowly but have been coming on strong as of late, even exceeding Pixar at times in the last few years. We agree their upcoming slate looks very interesting and we've even said we look forward to some of them more than some of the Pixar slate.Views being that close doesn't warrant this level of argument where you're calling people out on "bullshit," especially if the main disagreement was about exactly where each studio stood currently but everything else was pretty much agreed upon. It was a bit much for just inches IMO. -

I've read it. You guys started off with the disagreement, you got a little heated so it escalated, you threw in the whole "stop comparing it to Delgo" to show how mean tribe was being again, then you never really answered tribe at the end when it sounded like you both agreed on the rankings of Pixar and DWA in the first place.Wasn't even commenting on the content. I was commenting on the playbook, which is straight out of 2007. -

Yeah I remember clearly now. iEye gets in a discussion, escalates it by getting heated, acts innocent when he gets called out on it ("what? Just a friendly discussion if you disregard my cursing"), plays the victim because of all the Pixar meanies picking on him, make sure he gets the last word. So far so good?So what was "wrong" about what I said then? -

I get where tribe is coming from because you've gotten into a similar thing with me before. I know where you're coming from because after one of our discussions like this and things finally cooled down you said that it just irks you when Pixar fans say the same stuff over and over again and you just get passionate about that, that's all. All I said was I've been where tribe was, and I don't want to get dragged into another one of these because it's late and it's just the same mess over again and the animation regulars here have heard my say hundreds of times already... -

Okay well this is probably what tribe meant and what I alluded to and I didn't want to go there again but fine.Had you been reading any of our posts in the Pixar club or Cars 2 threads, you'd see that we pretty much said what you said. What is befuddling is when something like this comes up, you start pigeonholing us as these Über Pixar fanatics who trash DWA all the time, completely disregarding what we've said in the past, and ignoring that when we bring it up to prove your point.Just chillax. We've said DWA was great. There's a lot of getting worked up over minor differences here. -

iEye have had our discussions as well... All I have to say is, this is not all that surprising. It's unfortunate all the threads from the "other place" have been lost forever, there are a few fun ones between he and I there. -

With all the movies DWA is about to make, maybe they can be the first one to produce a movie geared more to an older audience (rated R, with cursing, maybe violence with blood and guts, maybe a love scene if they're feeling frisky)... Use Guillermo del Toro to the fullest while you have him there! I'm sure it will be controversial at first and people will think, why would they do that, it will bomb because no kid can see it and few adults will want to see it because it's a cartoon.... But if they want to keep the marketplace unsaturated, might as well expand the medium so people stop saying animation is a genre, a kiddie genre! DWA can say, it's NOT a kiddie genre, here, check THIS out, then melt people's faces!! -

The downside I do see is over saturation, which would hurt not only DWA but also the other high cost animation studios. Illumination and Blue Sky will be okay because their movies are cheap, but I doubt Pixar and Disney will be able to compete if their movies keep costing around $200m because it will be harder and harder to make that at the box office. -

Yeah I think their reasoning is flimsy. But honestly no one really knows yet because this much output is unprecedented. I think I'd be more wary of it if they were producing crap but lately I have had no reason to be disappointed. -

Not sure I'd be able to explain it any better than the article does. The article does mention Pixar's "boundless creativity" off the heels of Cars 2, with Monsters U and finding Nemo 2 upcoming, so who knows. -

Nikki says investors see the huge slate as a sign of desperation. I guess investors don't care if quality improves or anything.LINK -
